Guest guest
Mickey My doc has always increased my duragesic by 50 percent for surgery, and then back to my baseline usually with in 4 or 6 weeks. I still am prescribed break thru meds every 3 hours as well. I once spoke with a pharmacy about why they wouldn't stock certain class 2 meds. The reason being several. One is the cost outlay. My one drug is 14,000.00 per month. I can understand that a small mom and pop pharmacy could have a hard time swinging that. Also, having the community know that certain pharmacies have certain drugs in stock, the owner, pharmacist stated that it was also for insurance reasons. I guess he meant that carrying certain drugs of abuse would make his pharmacy a target of theft/robbery. The owner stated he just didn't want to deal with it. Even Walgreen doesn't carry the med I take, they offer to order it in one time, but they wont stock it. Hospital based pharmacies are much more willing to order in the expensive drugs/or tightly controlled drugs. I hope your pain is controlled. deb RN Debra
