Kris, I would find a new doctor.

Kaylene

I don't know if this is allowed, but I am a desperate person and I need help.

Any advice you can give me would be great.

I was recently dropped from 90mg morphine sulf. twice a day to 40mg oxycontin 3

times a day. I had to take 2-3 of these at a time early on just to keep the pain

at a tolerable level.

I figured once I got too low, I could just take one twice a day to last until I

got my refill and then until I saw the Dr. to discuss my meds.

I have been trying my best to stick to two pills a day, but I have to take them

earlier and earlier, about 9-10 hrs apart, to keep down the worst detox

symptoms.

I am going through hell right now. I have been too afraid to call the Dr.,

because he has capitalized the fact that I am an addict and that they want to

get me off the meds altogether (which is a joke since my condition is chronic

and degenerative and is not going to get better on it's own.)

I know if I tell them I had to take more than prescribed they will not have any

sympathy for me at all and they have always refused to give any leeway in the

past. Do you know if there is anything else I can do to combat these symptoms?

If you have never taken narcotics for pain, I recommend staying away from them

as long as possible.

Kris,

I am so glad to hear that you have that straightened out for now &

that you also have a plan of action.

I hope that all goes well with your primary.

Lori :)

Well, I have taken every pain med they offer, and since I was on Oxy when I

started seeing them, I knew that it worked better for me than morphine, so that

is what I told them.

That the morphine makes me sleep all the time, but the Oxy makes me more active,

so which is better? They want me to lose weight, so Oxy would obviously be a

better choice, but they are not willing to put me on the right dose, so I have

to stick with being in bed 16 hours a day.

Hello every one

It has been a long time.

Speaking of withdrawls and DT's, My doctor or his nurse put the wrong date on my

refill perscription so I had to make it for 2 days with nothing. I am on 250

mcg/hr fentenal with 30mg morphine sulphate as needed for bbreak through.

By the second day I was hurting so bad I was throwing up. I could not function

at all. I never want to go through that again. I got the meds this morning and

it took almost 6 hours for the pain and nausea to subside.

I wish every one a pain free day

Bill

Bill,

I had that happen because I had a virus and threw up my meds and I was

short two dosages. I happened to go in for compazine and thank goodness they

believed me,and they gave me my prescription.

They will call the pharmacy and see the date is different. I hated to call as

this was a new doctor and it worked out even though they haven't changed my

start date, I can get my

prescriptions on the day they write them so I have to remind them next time. I

wish you did not go thru that and would have called : )

I am glad you are okay. Does the fentenal help you Bill and how long have you

taken it, if you don't mind me asking? I am going to have to change from

Morphine and I don't know what to do but I don't want them increasing it any

more as it is not working, I have reached a tolerance which happens and is

normal.

Glad you are okay and good to hear from you. Bennie
