Guest guest
Hello Nadia and Welcome! I am also in Miami, I live in Cutler Bay. I am also in chronic pain and just was scheduled for an ACDF one level on March 10th. I am having it done at Mercy Hospital. I am a failed back surgery syndrome patient, so I know and understand chronic pain. Welcome to this support group, is very nice and I think that you are going to like it. Take care, Millie >Nadia wrote; > > I just joined, and my name is Nadia. I'm from New York in the summer and Miami Lakes in the winter. I was diagnosed 10 years ago with Lupus and chronic fatigue. Both are under control - well, mostly - with meds, but I get bad days a lot. Just last week a bad day lasted for 5 days!!

The surgeon approaches the spine from the front, through the throat area. After the disc is removed, the vertebrae above and below the disc space are fused together. Your doctor may recommend a discectomy if physical therapy or medication fail to relieve your neck or arm pain caused by inflamed and compressed spinal nerves. Patients typically go home the same day; recovery time takes 4 to 6 weeks. It just confused me when you said you were having a ACDF and talked about failed back surgery. I had a lumbar spinal fusion with instumentation. So you will now have a c-spine procedure with your lumbar one, OUCH. I hope your surgery goes well and with the microscopic kind and good doctors, I hope you have a great recovery also. Welcome to you also Nadia and hope you pain free days. If all that's not enough, I have (and so does my daughter) bad carpal tunnel. I had surgery 4 years ago but the hand pain returned and is much worse now. Hi Nadia, I am sorry to hear of all the things that you have. It is nice to hear that you have most of it under control. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and it goes hand in hand with chronic fatigue syndrome. The early mornings and the evening are worst for me and of course that is when the kids need me the most and supper time. Just keep fighting through it and tomorrow will be a brighter day. Guest guest
Hi Nadia. Just wanted to let you know that I understand about hand pain. I have had carpel tunnel surgery in both hands. I now have a lot of trouble with the right hand. I have been diagnosed with arthritis in the thumb. Sometimes the pain is so bad that any movement sends waves of pain into my lower hand and wrist. I was told that once you have carpel tunnel you will have permanent motor and sensory nerve damage to some degree. I take Tylenol when the pain flairs up. It helps most of the time. Flexall over the counter lotion helps too. Welcome and hope to hear more from you. Take care and hopes you have more minimal pain days.
