Guest guest
I am taking 40 mg oxycodone. I am having an allergic reaction to the medication on my skin. The doctor wants to put me on methadone. He says that it will be lower dose and it will last all day to take care of the pain. Is there any one out there that takes methadone for pain? Can you give me some insight on the difference between the two medications? Thank you.
Guest guest
I take Methadone and it is a great pain medication for me. I want to reiterate for me, since there are people that can not handle this medication. It a very good pain killer and it also helps with nerve pain. The way that Methadone works, is that it will store in your fat tissues and muscle tissue, so there more you take, the more medication you will have in your system, so that is why your Doctor says that it is long acting. I like it much better than Oxycodone, since Oxycodone is short acting and you have to take more every 4 to 6 hours in order to stay pain free. With Methadone I take 20 Mg's every 6 hours and sometimes I can go longer without taking my next dosage, so that helps me. I hope that it works for you. Hi Rich If you are having an allergic reaction to a medication please listen to your doctor and stop taking it before you end up in anaphylactic shock. I have been taking Methadone three times each day for a few years now and it works well. It's also very inexpensive. Kaylene
