As I recall, 'solid alcohol' was a phrase used in the 3rd edition big-book story " Doctor, Alcoholic, Addict " by the author to refer to the self-prescribed pills he was taking (I forget exactly what they were or if he even specifically said), and when I've heard the phrase used in meetings, it implied any drug or mind-altering substance in pill or 'solid' form. The " Doctor,... " story is full of 'quotable quotes', many of which have become slogans and dogma in AA. ----- http://listen.to/benbradley
