Guest guest
Beth, I just try to take things a moment at a time (they say a day at a time but I say a moment!). Try not to think ahead about things you can't do or won't be able to do when the time comes, that causes major anxiety for me. We are so programmed to just do do do all the time that when we have to stop and examine things, it gets overwhelming, to say the least. Did the anxiety come after you started the Oxycontin and Oxycodone? I take the same pain medications and I have been having more and more severe anxiety as time goes. But my life is very hectic, so it could just be from all that. Or hormones, mine sure are messed up right now! I think depression comes with the pain (unless your like me and it runs in the family). It's depressing to hurt all the time and to have to give up your job and the things you like doing. I know it hits me pretty hard and this winter was really rough. Just make sure that you do take time to take care of yourself beyond all the medication and therapies, doing things YOU like to do and help you feel some joy or makes you smile. I tend to isolate which only makes the depression worse and I struggle to keep up with friends, co-workers or just day to day things. Sometimes, if I need to, I just shut the whole world out and try to meditate and just be in peace. Sometimes I cry my eyes out , sometimes I read a silly book or watch something mindless on TV. I guess its my little way of trying to escape the pain. Good Luck Beth. I hope you find some support and coping tips that help you here. This is a great place to vent, get advice, and sometimes it helps me to just read what others are going through so I don't feel so alone. Caitlin I now am suffering from major depression and generalized anxiety disorder as well. Right now this is all majorly overwhelming and I'm in need of some coping tips. How does someone cope when it seems everything is going downhill at once?
