Guest guest
I developed fibro after a long bout of knee pain following an injury. I can't take aspirin/nsaids and was given no pain meds. It was a long year of physical therapy, ice, elevate and excruciating pain. Then the fibro developed. An aside: I talked to a new doctor today as an intake to the Pain Management Clinic here in Duluth and he said this is often the case. They now believe that fibro may be the brain 'learning pain' after a long time with it. I'm sure I'm not expressing this well, but a light bulb went off for me because I had read a book about the plasticity of the brain or the brain's ability to change. Anyway, it is incredible to me how much pain fibromyalgia can cause. I started out trying tramadol, but now I take opiates for this and other pain I experience. In the Pain Program they will teach me other tools to use to help manage pain. I will be so glad to share them with anyone who wants to know. I think some are ones we've heard before (like stretching). Where I will be lucky will be to have encouragement and a program to be accountable to. Sorry, don't know if I'm making sense tonight. Am waiting for pain to abate and sleepiness to knock on my door. J.
