Next time, ask the nurse right away to do a urine test, so it will be ready for the doctor. Sometimes we have to be a bit sneaky. <g> Actually, once you finish your course of antibiotics, it would be a good idea to have a follow up urinalysis. Take good care of yourself. Drink plenty of fluids. Kaylene
Guest guest
I totally sympathize with you about the undiagnosed UTI thing. I was treated for back muscle spasms, and when that didn't work, they treated me for depression, and when that didn't work, I finally found a doc who ran a simple urine test, and from there, they did more tests. They then found that I had a double ureter with two separate entries into the bladder, and kidney stones, which resulted from two thin ureters instead of one normal one. It was like my normal kidney was draining normally, with a one-way valve, while the stone-filled kidney was draining from a ureter narrow as a half of a coffee stirrer, and sending old urine back up to the kidney through the second half of the coffee stirrer. Neither of the narrowed ureters had one-way valves. I was having bouts of reflux, caused by old urine draining into the bladder, and the other ureter sending it back up to the deformed kidney, and the only symptom I had was back pain, with only one UTI every 10 months or so, and this went on for about 10 years. During all this time, the doctor I so much trusted only assumed that the presence of blood in the urine suggested an infection, and " women just get those because their bodies were so poorly designed " . Forget intuition, that is a product of emotion. What do we know? We didn't go to med school. I could have been spared so much pain and torment if that doctor had been more interested in really helping me. The second doctor was more interested in solving the mystery of what exactly was causing me so much pain. I wished all doctors were more like that. IN Response to: I was scared that it was affecting my kidneys so I went to a walk-in clinic last night and found out I have a rampant UTI infection that has gone from my bladder to kidneys, thus the major back pain I've been having. Weird thing is, I didn't have ANY symptoms expect back pain and being tired so I just thought I was having a flair up. So I've been walking around like this for more than 3 weeks! I have spent years building a relationship with this man and he can't be bothered to do a urine test, when I told him I had mid/lower back pain, was exhausted etc. and he did nothing. I'm so frustrated. > > > > >
