Guest guest
I am not taking this medication, but I know some people who are. I am not knocking down this medication because it may be perfect for you. What I write has more to do with prescriptions in general than it does methadone specifically. One of them in fact, has been a friend since junior high school. She suffers from chronic pain stemming from all kinds of back problems. Yesterday we were chatting and she told me she had just seen her doctor about getting another epidural and he ended up cautioning against it because they discovered some heart damage that has been caused by taking methadone, which had been prescribed by a different doctor some time ago. This new doctor told her to stop taking it immediately and gave her something else instead. From what I've learned this is not an uncommon thing with prolonged methadone use. The bad part is that her prescribing doctor knew this could happen and never told her. Now she has heart damage that is irreversible. Here are a few web sites to read for further information: http://doublecheckmd.com/searchReviews.do?drugNameIds=11986 http://www.drugs.com/pro/methadone.html Don't take anything for granted and don't automatically believe that your doctor has your best interest in mind. Many of them know about hazardous side effects from different medications, but they won't tell you because all they care about is the immediate fix. Before you start taking and medications, please read up on them and learn about what they do in both the short term and long term. It is your body and your life an ultimately it is your responsability to know what you're putting into your body and what it can do to you.
