All, Or, the all well meaning, " If you tried hard enough, you could overcome this without medication and could work. " Then there is the, " It must be God's will. " Would these same people say this to diabetics on insulin or heart patients on their medications ? Think not. It is very important to watch what you say to a pain patient and encourage as when your body is weakened by pain, it is hard to make good informed decisions as all you want to be is out of pain. It is all so important to have someone to go to your appointments with you that knows your wishes that can advocate for you if you can not, and your pain diary and functional assessment are written assessments that document your situation and should be included in your medical records so it can be addressed.
