If the MRI was taken longer than a year ago, I will go for a new one. Believe it or not I had an MRI in October of last year, and I just had one for some other reason, and my spine had huge changes in less than a year! So I would say yes to the MRI and NO to the injections. Good luck with the new Doc. Tipper You are allowed to refuse any form of treatment of medication or therapy. If the doctor says that it is in his treatment plan and he dismisses you, report him to the state licensing website so they can keep track of it. Doctors make more money on injections than on writing medications and it has found that epidurals are not really effective after three injections and are not really effective form of treatment anymore (Spine Universe) but insurance still pays for them and we still have them.
