Guest guest
I have fibromyalgia. I was finally diagnosed 4 years ago. The doctor put me on Cymbalta and it made so ill that I kept losing my balance, until I fell down the stairs. Cost me surgery on my shoulder in May. Now I am on Gabapentin - 100mg in the morning, 300mg at night. I was on 200mg in the morning, but it was altering my moods and feelings and that wasn't good, so I dropped down to 100mg. I take Tramadol for pain. I don't seem to be much better. I also have degenerative disc disease in my lower back. Even with the meds, most days I hurt pretty bad. I guess I should just get use to it. -- Suzi Martha wrote: Does anyone have Fibromyalgia, if so what are you doing to help yourself? I was diagnosed with it in " 03 " and I can't really say I'm feeling better.
Guest guest
I also take tramadol for pain and I have degenerative disk disease. I also am having a really hard time sleeping for more than 2-3 hours at a time. Ambien doesn't even help. I also was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Can anyone share if they are on any medication that helps? I hear oxycodone works wonders. I was thinking of asking my doc about that next week. From: Suzi wrote: >I take Tramadol for pain. Guest guest
Many does assist different things. Sleep helps me with Fibro and they should be treated separately and Flexaril helps me with me fibro even though I gan weight and cymbalta or topomaz will mellow a mood so you have to deal with one at a time. Guest guest
Hi , I have fibromyalgia. I have had it since 1989 and have tried many, many medications. I don't usually respond to the group but I do read the posts from time to time. I also have lumbar spinal stenosis. I take a number of pills because I am still working. For my fibromyalgia I take Cymbalta, Flexeril, and Naprosyn. For my lumbar spinal stenosis I take Neurontin . I also take Ativan. Plus I take vitamins - Calcium, C & D & E. My psychiatrist put me on Nuvigil, which is a medicine that I take when I know that I am going t have a long day, It keeps me alert and not sleepy all the time. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year after years of unexplained body wide pain. I was put on Lyrica but gained 35 pounds on it so I stopped that and had no treatment for the Fibro until last week when I started Savella. I hope that it will help. I am sick of hurting all the time. I take Tramadol for pain and it does help some but it could be better. I am just happy to have some pain relief at this point. Along with the Fibromyalgia, I also suffer from Migraines, an under-active Thyroid, Acid Reflux, Bipolar Disorder, Mild Tachycardia, and Arthritis. I also have two prior back injuries that continue to cause me pain. All of this at the age of 37. I feel all used up already. --- martha wrote: > > Does anyone have Fibromyalgia, if so what are you doing to help yourself? Guest guest
Restoril is specific to fibro and helps with my sleep and I only use it for two weeks for sleep. Ambien makes me sleep walk. You need your sleep for Fibro healing. Bennie 81196@... wrote: > Ambien doesn't even help. I also was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Guest guest
G'day..I have Fibromyagia. The best things that work for me is heavy doses of Narcotics and Lidocaine Patches. They really help a lot. And of course heat. Moist heat. Skye --- martha wrote: > > Does anyone have Fibromyalgia, if so what are you doing to help yourself? Guest guest
Thanks for the input. I have an appointment with my pain doc next Wednesday and I'm getting very frustrated. I just finished the serious of 3 epidural injection last month, and day by day my pain is creeping back. The first set of injections I was very hopeful because they really helped. Now I think I feel worse than I was before them. S************* Gail wrote: I have fibromyalgia. I have had it since 1989 and have tried many, many medications. Guest guest
I have fibro. Have had for about 5 years now. After trying many meds. The following helps me more than anything. Water exercise, and bi-weekly shots of Humira. You must stay moving, no matter how it hurts and believe me there are days when I cry through the pain. If you don't move you will not be able to move. I am not saying jazz-r-size. Just move in some way. Walk to the kitchen, walk to the end of the block just do leg lifts while sitting in a chair, just move. The rheumo started me on Humira shots and they are wonderful for me. I have tried so many meds I can not even remember them all. I take a lot of medication because I have a lot of problems, For the fibro this is what helps. It took about 4 months for it to work and I almost gave up on it. I was diagnosed with it in " 03 " and I can't really say I'm feeling better. Ive had Fibro since 97 (officially diagnosed) and I'm here to tell you it's an uphill fight. A lot depends on you having a good Dr. that is able to treat you. A lot of Drs. don't like to treat Fibro because they don't like to prescribe narcotics. Here in Tn. we have a big drug problem because a lot of people fake it and sell their meds. If possibble get a good rhemumatologist and or neurologist. I also have a sleep Dr., internist, and psychiatrist. It's kind of hit and miss, but once you begin to acknowledge how ill you are, you can begin to get better. Sadly, I was in denial about how sick I was, and made many E.R. visits. Fibromyalgia impacts your life in so many ways, but you can adjust. I know my limitations now, and sadly, I cannot do most of the things I love to do, and I have no problem with saying " No " , and getting in the bed. It's very tricky, but with time and the right support, you'll begin to get better. I myself cannot remember how it feels to be pain free, and I admit that I'm dependent on narcotics; but I REFUSE to live in pain! May God bless you and give you wisdom, Robbie
