Guest guest
Greetings, I'm pretty new to the group, but I've been reading the digests every day on my phone for weeks. I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis to name a few. I've been out of work for almost a year and my husband five years. Anyway, I got this new job and I had to do a urine test this afternoon. I wasn't aware I was going to be taking one until the Fed Ex guy showed up with the paperwork. I'm haven't been on opiates for well over a month now, but I DO take Suboxone. Wondering if that will show up on the drug screen. It was a standard 5-panel (whatever that means). Has anyone else ever encountered this? I know many people aren't on Suboxone for chronic pain. I, myself am doing a trial of this medication to see if it is indeed going to work long-term for me. Let me know your thoughts. Guest guest
Hi Patty: I've been through this process twice since my car accidents. In both cases there was no place on the application ( both computerized ) where it asks you if you are taking prescribed medication. In my case, a few days after I competed the app.'s, I was called into the employment center and told that I did not pass the drug screening. I had the opportunity in both cases to explain to the assistant that I had a pinched nerve in my neck from a car accident and was managing the pain with a pain management physician. She asked if I could produce the prescribed medication containers from the pharmacy ( with a recent date ), I said I'd be happy to, I did, she disappeared for a few minutes ( probably to verify everything and get the employment manager's Ok ), brought the container back out ( which by the way, was empty but with the previous months date on it ), and she said everything was Ok. A few days later I was called to come to work. Most drug tests are to identify street drug use, not bonified prescription medications that can be verified as prescribed by a PA-C or MD or OD and filled at a reputable pharmacy. I hope this eases your worries. I hope all goes well for you. Keavan (Nevada)
Guest guest
Keavan, thank you so much for your response. I have already taken the urine test for the position. The technician advised me that the results would be delivered to the employer in a couple of days. I am scheduled to start work on Monday. I have nothing to hide, therefore I guess I shouldn't be concerned. I have not taken any street drugs in years so I believe if I do what you did and provide the presciption bottles, I'll be OK. Again, thanks for the reply. I'm not as nervous anymore. Patty
Guest guest
Patty, One of my last jobs before going on SSD, I had to take a drug screening. I had to verify my pain medications, I was able to give them a sheet from my pharmacy showing that the prescription had been filled in the last 30 days. thought this might help.
