Hi Marti,

I think we have all been at the stage you are at at some point in

this journey. I have been told that it will take years to have the correct

my internal body image to what I really look like. While PS helps, we have

to be trying to like ourselves inside as well. Some of the things you say

sound like you may have some depression, but it also sounds like you may be

protein deficient. Have you been to your PCP to have labs checked recently.

If you are getting enough protein - you should not be having hair or nail

problems. I would start with your PCP and see what is recommended from

there. Good luck,

Carolyn

Hey girl, take care of yourself and post when you can! I'd rather you take

a nap if you can than make yourself more tired by posting. You and the baby

Krista b,

I have been ttc since Nov with no tests (ep was on 8/31). My doctor said if

I wasn't pg by Jan or Feb than he'd do an HSG test. If AF shows up this

month and I am not away on vacation than I will get the test done.

Hope that helps some.

Janice,

Thanks for your email on adding a section for legal lawsuits.

First of all, we need to ask some of our "legal" members about what we are able to mention regarding our lawsuits. If we are able to, we can start another database and add some information which could help others in this route. This database can be as discreet as possible, ie not adding any names of members or no doctors etc etc. I'm not sure what we can or cannot do or say, but I would be cautious as to what to put. I did contact one member once who was the first member I knew that won out of court and she said that her attorney has told her that she is limited to what she can say because of the agreement they signed to settle out of court. That is a bummer really but I can understand why. I suppose at this point we could add under plans/notes that that member is either suing or has sued and then perhaps add OOC (out of court) to show that it was settled out of court.

Anyone?? Please join us in this discussion to add your views or ideas. It would be interesting to read how many OOC cases there are after all. It just might prove to us that they do realise that they acted wrongfully and an OOC decision goes to prove it.

AmyL/S,

Yes, the tubes are exactly that. TUBES. Remember, the eggs need to travel down these tubes to get into the uterus. Doing an HSG will spill dye into the uterus cavity and up into the tubes. When the dye reaches the tips fo the tubes, it then starts to spill into the abdominal cavity. That is when they stop because they then know that the tubes are open. Hope this helps. But, I have not heard that they inject dye into the ovary. Someone else might be able to help here.

Poly,

I think that would be a great idea, one of my main concerns when I first joined

the group was how/if I could take legal action against the drs who were

responsible for me, and I found it very helpful to find out that there were

women out there who were doing just that .

I think a central database would be extremely useful.

Poly,

Just a bit to add regarding lawsuits. My 'research guru' friend just

sent me the transcipts from a case in South Carolina where the woman

with AS won her suit. Her D & C was in 1989. Anyway, it was a bit

surprising on what basis she won, but it gives ideas for ways to

fight some of our own cases as well. I actually had a lawyer call me

back yesterday that I had contacted four weeks ago. He apologized for

his delay (I really assumed it was disinterest) but said he had been

researching it this whole time and had brought two other lawyers into

the team. He asked if they could call me, they think they may have a

case. But, anyway, it's stuff like this that determines whether or

not the lawyers think they can do anything to help serve justice.

They also told me they would need all kinds of info that I am

rendering just by being a member of this group, i.e. primer,

experiences, etc...

Also, my friend has found a website that allows access to all kinds

of medical malpractice trial cases and their outcome. I haven't been

able to access the section on AS, but there is a number to call for

help and I'm going to start working on that and seeing how much I can

get.

Anyway, I do agree a section for lawsuits would be very helpful.

Maybe if we could get more lawyers to take these cases, in turn get

more victories, the medical field might start giving the whole aspect

of postpartum D & C's a bit more importance when they get to that

section in their training and/or the doctors currently performing the

procedure would be a bit more careful with their technique if they

thought they could be held accountable for their actions. It's just a

concern now that the whole culture regarding this is " OH, that's too

bad, but I guess these things DO happen! " You know, I fully

understand some things do happen, but I have no patience for not

allowing the patient the highest level of care and that includes

technique, awareness, follow-up and diligence in diagnosis to offer

the best possible chance at correction should AS be the outcome.

Would you like me to send the copy of the case Carol, my friend, sent

me

S,

No, they do not use dye with a hysteroscopy. A hysteroscopy is when they use a camera to view inside the uterus. They use a dye with an HSG (Hysterosalpingogram) though. This is like an X-ray so they are able to visualise if there is any blocked area by looking at the dye and see where it cannot pass through.

Dear Margie,

Nice to hear from you again and nice to know that you are going ahead with

the surrogacy. Did I understand that your surrogate is from Venezuela? We

have another member, Lee Ann who has done surrogacy and her surrogate is now

pregnant with twins. I'm sure she is willing to answer any questions you

have on surrogacy so please send any if you have them. Please keep us

updated on your surrogacy road. I hope you are successful too.

BTW, I sent you some questions to your private email address on the profile

and am waiting for a reply. I will resend to you and hope you can answer

them.

Best wishes

Hi, and sorry you have to be here. This is an e-mail community support

group of 170+ women who are in different stages of their treatment for

Ashermans. We all start out

just as you….blinded sided by a devastating diagnosis and then searching

for answers to our questions and finding little to no information out

there. You will find this group a

tremendous help. We are committed

in trying to help women with this syndrome and to help spread the information

about the best treatment plans, the best surgeons to see etc. Please read the primer we have

posted on our home page and also tell us about yourself…how you got

Ashermans and what treatment(s) you have had so far etc. Where do you live? This will help us guide you in your

choice of doctors.

In summary, please ask your

questions. We see all the e-mails

posted and someone usually gives an answer very quickly.

There is help out there. We have had women with very severe cases

of Ashermans go on to have normal healthy pregnancies in this group. I am one. It was a battle to get there with many

ups and downs, but it can be won.

So, tell us about yourself, your Ashermans and ask your questions.

Hey ,

Just wanted to add one note to 's post. It may help you to

scroll back through previous posts and get a feel for who is doing

what. I'm sure you'll find some answers to some questions you already

have and then find some thoughts that hadn't even occurred to you

yet. But, one thing I'm certain is that you will find hope in this

group. So much happens between all these ladies, I'm sure you'll find

the guidance your looking for. It's important to hang in there and

don't let your emotions get the best of you. Your frustration, anger,

sadness are all common feelings we've all been through or are still

coping with...so please feel comfort in knowing your never alone in

this group.

Continue to read and review all that's available to you on this site

and then start firing away with your specific questions.

I feel the same way you do if I dwell on my situation. I try not to let

into these feelings because I think the anger we feel could consume us if we

let it. I wanted to have a house full of children and after my daughter was

born, I hemmoraged followed by a D & C and then I have had no periods since

then. I have Severe Ashermans. The whole lower part of my Uterus was

scarred shut and I had one surgery to correct it. I now have an open cavity

and still no periods. I am in the process of waiting for a second opinion

from Dr. March in CA and I live in NY.

It is really a decision that you and your husband have to make about it

being worth it? Everyday I look at my daughter and I say sure she is worth

it to me or to have another one is worth the trials we have to go thru.

What I am saying if there is a chance you could have another shouldn't you

persue it because living with what might have been will always be on your

mind. As for my surgeries, I lost a day, that's it. I was in no

significant pain for any of them. I didn't take any pain medication. But I

think I have a higher pain threshold than most.

I wrestle with what comes next and what if it doesn't work and what does

God have in mind for me, everyday. I keep reminding myself that I have one

beautiful daughter and If there are more in my future, I will have to do a

little more work than I did for this one. We have decided if it doesn't

work out with my surgeries that we are going to adopt atleast one. I want

to be mommy to more than just one child.

Remember what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger and you are not alone, many

of us feel the same as you.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Ivana,

I really think that you should ask again what information you are required to take to Germany with you. From what I remember, the only requirement from me was to take the HSG film for him to see. If you skipped the HSG, then ask Dr Gallinat if this is required.

Now with regards to you taking Premarin, well I am not sure what Dr Gallinat would prefer you to be on. I think you wrote in a previous email that your period sort of came back after your last surgery. I think you should try to talk to Dr Gallinat over the phone and see what his intentions are. He speaks good English so you can communicate with him.

Good luck.

Thank you, I will try to contact dr.Gallinat today, obviously is the best. I'm bit shy talking on telephone with doctors because in Italy we are not used too, none doctor will "waste his time" on a telephone conversation.....

I'll let you know

My name is Jas, I'm on my early 30tys, I'm a mother of a 2 year old boy and have been struggling with weight/ dieting all my life. Tried every diet out there and feeling desperate.

I'm at my heaviest 160lbs at 5'4".

I had two painful miscarriages before having my son, I attribute them to bad diet/ nutrition and extreme stress that they caused. I want to get back to a healthy weight, feel confident and have a happy relationship with food. I especially want to be a good role model for my son and would like to have another child.

I hope to post a journal daily and look forward to feedback and learning from others.

Hi Jas,

I am Nat, new here too, and mother of a 4 years old. I am sorry to hear about your miscarriages, I totally understand, I had one too (ectopic) it is painful and stressfull.

I am too so sick of dieting, I have decided to stop it and try ie.

Good luck!

Nat
