Guest guest
Hi all. I haven't posted or replied much lately. Just started a full time job and trying to keep it. Since starting with this disease only 10 months ago, I've never been pain free (or relatively pain free) for more than 2 to 3 days in a row. I am now going on day 12 pain free. Not that I'm not greatfull about this or anything, but this is completely unheard of for me! I almost fear it will come back in a vengeance. Has anyone heard of a " remission " of sorts, or if anyone's been thru it and how long it lasted for you? Like I said, not than I'm not greatfull, but I don't get it. Thanks. I've had chronic pancreatitis for about 9 years. For the first year, there were many pain-free days, with maybe a flare-up once a month or so. Then the world turned upside down! I had about 6 years of daily pain & nausea, varying in intensity, but never mild. Recently the pattern changed again. I have pain & nausea almost every day lasting most of the day. Once or twice a week now, the pain is mild enough not to need narcotics. I often wake up once ar twice a night with the pain. I try to be grateful for the mildly uncomfortable times & use them to get things done. Unfortuately, I'm back to the phase where the bad pain greatly outnumbers the mild pain times. I can't figure out why the pain levels change; that's probably the most frustrating part. I hate this feeling of having no control over the course of this disease. I'm very happy for you, . Don't let the fear of having the pain return cast a cloud over your feeling well. We'll all hope that you have a looooong, pain-free period. jang

I really never know when the pain will hit or when I will have acute attack that will send me to the hospital. In order to cope with this I try to stay focused in the here and now and deal with the pain when it comes to try to keep from worrying about when the next attack will occur. When I worry or get real stressed about something I seem to have more frequent pain or even an acute attack. I am able to maintain full-time employment at the present time and have even managed to go back to school to obtain my master's degree. Of course this has had interruptions from hospitalizations, but I am just trying to take advantage of all I can now before I get to the point that I won't be able to. Good Luck to you and your new job!!! Sandy
Guest guest
Hi , Glad to hear you're pain-free! I too have been pain-free since April 8th. I returned back to work on April 10th--I work fulltime as a driver for UPS. I had a celiac plexus block done for pain relief--so far so good! Have not had alot of time to write but I read the postings whenever I get a chance--long hours at work. Good luck with your everything! Jim C. wrote: > > Hi all.
