Guest guest
Hi Katy, Tramadol (Ultram) is narcotic-like pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain. I'm alittle confused with your comment of being told that Amitriptyline (Elavil) is the same as Cymbalta... did I read that correctly? They're both anti-depressants that are often used for pain as well, but they're both different types. Amitriptyline, a much older one is an Tricyclic & Cymbalta is in a class called SNRI's. --- , black_raven@... wrote: > > May I ask what Tramadol is? Guest guest
I take Oxycodin and Tramadol. The brand name is Ultram. It is a pain killer stage 1 before they start you on the powerful opiates. It worked ok for me for a while. Now I take Oxy and use the Tramadol for breakthrough pain. How does Gabapentin work? S Katy wrote: May I ask what Tramadol is? Guest guest
It's the generic name for Ultram. It's a weak mu opiate agonist, a SNRI, amongst other properties. You really do need to talk to your doctor to see if this is appropriate. Elavil and Cymbalta are very different drugs. Elavil is a Tricyclic antidepressant and Cymbalta is a SNRI antidepressant. Here's a link to patient information from drugs.com: http://www.drugs.com/ultram.html Here's a link to the Wikipedia article. It appears to be accurate and well written:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramadol I hope that helps. Regards, The article > > May I ask what Tramadol is? Guest guest
neurontin helps me a lot, and the nice thing after you have been on it a bit there are no side effects. I wish I can take oxy Im allergic to it. I wonder if that would make me allergic to tramadol? Hugs Katy
Guest guest
I was on gabapentin for close to 2 years. I had lots of the side effects ALL of the time. I'm glad that it's working for you. Guess it's like all medicines, works for some and doesn't much work for others. *Suzi*
