Guest guest Posted June 14, 2000 Report Share Posted June 14, 2000 NO NO NO!!! I dont mean to shout but you need to know that MORPHINE is contraindicated for pancreatitis! In the past they used morphine as a way of diagnosing panc. They would give it to you and if your pain got worse then you had it! I cannot remember exactly what it does but I believe that it causes spasms. For some reason this does not seem to be widely known but whenever I have questioned the experts on this they do say that is correct. This includes MS (morphine sulfate) contin, which I had been given on more than one occasion and just thought that I was going out of my mind that it seemed to make the pain worse.
