Guest guest
I finally have my " Chronic Pain " pain under control with pain medication, but now I have another break though pain coming from my right arm from the Elbow to the Finger tips. For the life of me it is a pain that is steadily getting worse the pain is unbearable my joints in the hand feel like I am being cut with a hot knife.I have Pain bolts shoot up my arm from my Wrist to my Elbow. My hand, fingers and arm go numb from what ever is doing it. I am having trouble holding and grasping things. I wake up in the middle of the night with shocks of pain in my arm I can say that the pain in my arm cuts right though me even the medications I am on now don't even touch it. Well I will find out more on January 20 that's when my next doctors appointment is so I will let you all know whats going on with it. I can say it does suck because that is my writing hand also the hand I use with my cane. I use my right hand I have fallen with my cane because my hand went numb and slipped out my hand falling. Like I said if it isn't one things its another. Rob Retired Military New York

I had an EMG done to my neck and my elbows. My Neurologist found that I had Ulna neuropathies to both elbows. Ask your Dr. for a prescription for a Cervical EMG. I still, to this day have that problem but it is much improved from the original onset. I have to hold my coffee mug with both hands. The right arm, sometimes jerks or my shoulder drops suddenly. I hope you feel better soonest, /New York

Well I have had an EMG done to my lower back a few years back and the end result was that I have Nerve Entrapment In my Left Leg. But nothing was done about it Plus when I had the test done at the VA Good Lord did it hurt. So I am thinking that why is there even a point to it having an EMG done when the two choices are surgery to remove the nerve or medication I have had total of four surgeries on my left leg so there's a lot going on with it. The doctors flat out said you have nerve neuropathies, but surgery isn't an option. They took out sections of my nerve ends because of my fourth surgery having my ALC replaced so like I said why go though that pain of the EMG when in the end they don't do jack shit to help us. Rob - This sounds like classic carpal tunnel syndrome. There are other things that can cause such symptoms, so its worth seeing a specialist to rule them out, but more than likely it is CT. The pain at night is pretty diagnostic. Insist on seeing a hand/arm orthopedic specialist, not just your general practitioner. Get an EMG to confirm the source of the nerve pain. In the meantime, it would help a LOT to use a wrist brace, especially at night (you can get one from any drugstore), and use ice on the underside of your wrist, and take anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen like Advil or Aleve - NOT tylenol!) if you can tolerate them. You may discover that your symptoms improve significantly just from these steps. I'm dealing with this right now myself. I've had multiple neuropathies in my shoulders and arms over the years, but the pain and disability from the carpal tunnel is becoming non- negotiable. I'm seeing my hand surgeon on Jan 7. I don't want another surgery, but it may be inevitable right now. The danger is letting it go on too long and ending up with permanent disability in the hand. Let us know what you find out.
