Guest guest
There is ABSOLUTELY nothing you can do to make them follow another docs orders. OTHER then ask the doc to prescribe the meds to you to be given at home, which will most likely never happen. Your doc is asking another Dr to take his orders and put his name on them. He doesn't have to do this as the doctor has gone thru the training etc and it his that individuals license on the line. I have only once gone to the ER for migraine, and that was because I was at work. The ER would be the last place I would ever go. with a headache. Ask your doc to keep the meds on hand,(in his office so you can go there during office hours) OR if there is a DR of pharmacy or PHARM D at a Walgreen near you, have your doc call in the orders written for PRN (as necessary). You can go to the Walgreen or other pharmacy to get the shot. I had injectable IM meds at home that I taught my then husband to give me. DHE worked wonders. SO, you have had a migraine every day for the last 42 years? I no longer suffer from them with the exception of about 4 per year, down from 3 to 4 a week. Guest guest
Kathy, Have you talked to the medical Director of the hospital that you go to? Maybe talking to him directly or writing a letter about what happens every time that you go to their ER will get the ball rolling and he could make sure that everyone is on the same page. I know how frustrating it is to go to ER's in pain and then been treated like a drug seeker, it used to happen to me. I put an end to that by doing the following: Any time that I have to run to the ER because my pain is out of control, I call my Doctor's service and talk to him when he calls me back. I tell him exactly what's going on and then if he tells me head out to the ER, he goes ahead and calls them with instructions on what to do with me. Sometimes he will put me in the hospital in order to control the pain, or sometimes he will just have them give me some injections, but he is the one that instructs them on what to do. Try that, talk to your Doc and see if he will agree to do something like that, if not then talking to the medical director would be your best choice. Good luck to you, Millie --- Kathy wrote: > They (ER doctors) take a part of the instructions on file and make up their own cocktail of meds which rarely works.
