Guest guest
Hi Donna Sorry to hear you had such a shitty time of it at A & E. Would say it surprised me but knowing the NHS the only real surprise is that you didn't have to wait longer! I have been living with chronic pain for almost 7yrs now. Other than a friend of mine who is an occupational health consultant, I am yet to find a medic who has either heard of it or understands it. I think the way that doctor spoke to you was disgusting. I've read up on CP so I can throw all sorts of facts at them when they try to dismiss it. Did you get his name? I s'pose, if not, he could be tracked down by the time/day. Have you thought about reporting him to the General Medical Council? http://www.gmc-uk.org/concerns/index.asp <http://www.gmc-uk.org/concerns/index.asp> Maybe the CAB could help too. Have you ever thought about going on a pain management course? I managed to get on one in London (had to find it for myself though & take it to my doc cos they'd never heard of it, or any others) & it made a huge difference to my life. Was good to be in a room full of people who knew what I was going through. Might be worth thinking about. Good luck lovey & try to keep your corners up Jen --- DreamGirl91 Griffiths wrote: > >> Then he told me there is no such thing as chronic pain and the only people who suffer from that is people who have nothing better to do other then waste doctors time as they are attention seeking. Guest guest
Donna, That is absoulutely horrible treatment. I hope that there is somewhere else you can go to get help in the UK. I am so sorry that this happened to you. You deserve some relief. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Guest guest
If you didn't get anywhere with the doctor's supervisior, then go to the next level in the hospital with a written complaint. I understand how hard it is to wait so long to be seen in the ER. Here in the US many for the ER have a 4 to 6 hr wait to be seen. Factors that determine how long you wait are: your presenting symptoms, number of patients brought in by ambulance and how long it takes to move patients out of the ER beds. Sometimes patients need to be stabilized before they can be moved to a floor or tests are needed to diagnois. I don't know how it works in the UK, but in the US, the ER doctors can not admit patients. They have to find a doctor who will agree to take the case. Here the ER will only provide certain medications and a limited quanity due to the fact they do not follow the patient after they leave the ER. We have urgent care here in Pa. it is like a ER but treats less severe problems. Don't worry about that doctor. He is obvious ignorant. There are always a few. I hope you are feeling better. Lots of hugs, Tami --- DreamGirl91 Griffiths wrote: > > > > Then he told me there is no such thing as chronic pain and the only people who suffer from that is people who have nothing better to do other then waste doctors time as they are attention seeking. When he told me that I demanded to see the Director of surgery and director of the A & E who said they were sorry for the way i was spoken to and made the doctor say sorry to me but he refused to as according to him I asked for it when I was nothing but polite to him. I broke down and could not control my crying I was so angry yet upset as well. > Who else can I report this to??? > Thanks for listening!
