Guest guest
Hi Donna, I'm sorry you are having pain due to a surgery that normally doesn't result in lasting chronic pain. Has the doctor given you a diagnosis for the cause of the pain? Gabapentin is only good for nerve pain so I wonder what that doctor is thinking unless he thinks you may have something like fibromyalgia or another cause for nerves to be giving false pain signals to the brain. I have fibromyalgia and know how difficult it is to find anything to help. The antidepressant you were given is one commonly tried for fibromyalgia. In hopes to regulate the sleep cycle which in turn dials down the pain signals. Are you not sleeping well? I don't do well on tricyclic antidepressants either. They make me act like a zombie and I also gain a lot of weight on them. Amitriptyline is in this class. I take Cymbalta and this antidepressant works for my depression and possibly allows me to get rest when I am able to sleep. I have other causes of pain as well so it's not easy for me to lay for too many hours. Hope you can get some relief soon. Guest guest
Thank you Jeannette. My GP thought it may of been my nerves being slightly over sensitive but as the year has progressed the pain has got incredible worst. I asked to see a Gynecologists as it seems to become worse during the month which could be Endometrosis which has not been diagnosed yet. I have a Gynecologist appointment tomorrow to see the boss to see if surgery is an option which i will grab with open arms. I have been on two lots of antidepressants, one is Fluoxetine and the other one was Amitriptyline which was stopped. the Amitriptyline gave me a rash and i become very lethargic mind you at 18 that may be normal. I have not been given any diagnoses at to what would or could be causing my pain to become so intense. I am physically vomiting passing out and and generally feeling rough. I am trying to juggle work which is a hour and a half a day with the pain not a grand idea, and also be a full time caregiver for my sister who is 16 and has profound special needs and has a lot of disabilities.
