Guest guest
Carolyn, can I say what you told me and really horrify this man? She told me, and maybe it was just a horror story, like you tell at a sleep out, but caffeinated liquids don't count. In fact, they sort of subtract from your liquids. In essence, she said to this horrified listener, that if I drink a 12 oz coke with caffeine (diet, of course), I must then drink 12 oz of water to cancel out the damage done! Now, I would've thrown her out of the car at the point, but I've done kidney stones and I know my weak spot. Sog, I think the bad news is that she's right. Coffee & tea don't count for you and, in fact, count AGAINST you. Hideous, eh? ** No matter what my mail says in the " from " , please reply to me at: vitalady@... ** Thanks! Guest guest
We have it at Top foods here, but I suspect that is sort of local. Ask them to order it. If they can get regular, they can get s/f. It's not cheap, though. It's in little tubs like Crystal Light. 3 to a jug for almost $4. GADZOOKS! But it is OH SO WORTH IT. And the peach protein mixed in it is pretty darned nice, too. ** No matter what my mail says in the " from " , please reply to me at: vitalady@... ** Thanks! Can you tell me where you buy it? >What grocery store? ~~~~~~~~~ I found it in super Wal-Mart, but no local grocery stores. we really need to watch the aspartame though folks, I do continue to believe that that is what caused my high liver enzymes and my bouts of low blood sugar - at least from what research I have done and amazingly when I reduced the quantities of these aspartame containing foods and liquids my enzymes came down and my incidents of l.b.s. nearly stopped. has anyone else had this? liver panels are not typically performed with our bloodwork so who would know...... I donated blood [for the last time] and thats how I found out. sue
Guest guest
Hi Sog, I hate water! Ick! With that said I have managed to choke down my " ration " every day but I did have to find some methods to make it taste a bit better. I was afraid to dump with Orange juice and to be honest with you it just tastes way to sweet for me now. My favorite standby is to mix 1/4 glass of OJ with the rest of the glass filled with water. Tastes perfect. Another is Lemon or Lime! When I go out to eat (and because of my job, I have to do th is often) I ask for a glass of water 3/4 full and 5 or 6 pieces of lemon. Tell them that I need to make my own lemonade. While some of them look a bit odd, I have never been refused and at my " regular " restuarants they offer it now before I even ask. I hate the artificial sweeteners but have decided they are not that bad if you modify the mix. I buy the cans of crystal light and powedered drink mixes and add just the smallest amount to my glass of water. I can actually do this now with sweetened with sugar mixes as well. If the mix calls for 3 tablspoons to a glass, I will use a teaspoon or less. Just enough to provide a hint of flavor to the drink. Yet another " best friend " is herbal teas. I drink a lot of caffine free herbal tea. So much, in fact that I use a Mr Coffee maker to brew it and keep it warm for me. One filter, 2 tea bags, and 6 cups of water will make a pot that will stay hot for hours and just about fill my requirements right there. I put one tablspoon of raw sugar into the pot and it is a wonderful treat. As you can tell, I now have no problem at all getting in quite a bit more than my daily requirement of water. <smile> Melinda --- Sog wrote: > Hello all, > Bob (Sog) here > To ask a question of my learned colleagues. Guest guest
I'm in awe at how diligently you've worked at this to make it both fun and " 'legal " . Sigh. I just gave up. And my weight loss staled out accordingly during that first year. And later, I got myself a kidney stone for my trouble. For Christmas, 2 yrs ago, no less. I got the hang of protein right away, but water..... ** No matter what my mail says in the " from " , please reply to me at: vitalady@... ** Thanks! Guest guest
Yes , you remember correctly. Caffeine is a diuretic - it makes us pee. THerefore, any fluid we drink with caffeine, must be replenished with an equal amount of non-caffeine containing fluid to break even and be back at ground zero. It is easier to avoid the caffeine rather than having to back-track to make up the additional fluids. Guest guest
Greetings Sue, A quick choice is to look on the can of Regular Tang, there is a Toll Free phone number you can call for questions. Ask them who in your area is a supplier of the sugar free version of Tang. I did that same thing and they directed me to my local Kroger store. When I went to Kroger I could not find it. I ask the manager and he told me he had not ordered any because he did not think it would sell. I quickly told him otherwise and am now waiting on his first case of Sugar Free Tang. I think I might buy the whole case just to prove to him he needs to order more. I know there are bound to be many people in my community who would like it. My mouth is watering already!!!
