Guest guest
Dilaudid is a " break thru " drug which is typically used in conjunction with a long acting controlled released med such as oxycontin, ms contin, avinza. opana etc. I would suggest seeking the assistance of a pain management doctor. Guest guest
I use Dilaudid as my break through pain medication and I only take 4 Mg's when I do take it. Like the other poster mentioned, Dilaudid is a break through pain medication, it should be use in conjuction with another opiod; I use it with Methadone. But I am thinking that if your problem is neuropathy Dilaudid is not the right medication for you. You should be on Neurontin or even have a spinal cord stimulator installed in order to help you with your nerve pain. I had the spinal cord stimulator installed in June of 08 because of neuropathy on both legs after several failed spinal surgeries, and the device was a God send! The neuropathy is all but gone. I do not take any medications for my nerve pain anymore, the ones that I take are for my mechanical or movement pain. If your Doc is a pain management Doc ask him about doing an SCS trial. If he is not a PM Doc, ask him to refer you to one so you can explore the possibility of getting an SCS implanted. Also I have left side weakness in my arm and hand. My left hand is in excrutiating pain almost 24 hrs a day. I take 12 mg of dilauded per day. Most days this is not enough. My doctor will not increace the dose or give me something for breakthrough pain. Is this dose high? Anyone else with similar pain? >
Guest guest
That is considered a high dose according to my doctors. I take Dilaudid as well. It is also up to 12mg a day. I don't know if more is allowed or not. Love, Becky in NM wrote: I take 12 mg of dilauded per day. Most days this is not enough.
