Candy, I am sure we all understand you. i can't work and I never know if I can go anywhere but if it takes 3 hours, I to try to dress a bit, wash my hair and put on makeup cause it makes me feel more human. We can only do what we can do. There is no chastising here and i am alone which really stinks, Cathie in Ct

Hi Candy This is not about anyone being chastised, nor being a bad person. This is simply what helps some people. We each have our own medical problems, and no one here intends to belittle, nor hurt you. Kaylene Moderator
Guest guest
Hi Candy, Thanks for your post, I was feeling like I was alone in the Not getting dressed daily boat. I used to, that was when I tried to go somewhere everyday. The same with showers, but now if I take a shower I'm cramping and more fatigued for 1-2 hours, so it's bird baths/ shower every other day. I totally agree with others that looking our best goes a long way in helping many things. I do my best day to day, sometimes it's showering, getting dressed, and/or going out. Some days it's whatever I can do.((hugs)) Peace,
Guest guest
There isnt one right way of coping and we each find the path that helps us. I dont get dressed much either when I am really in bad shape. Some of the time I force myself to get dressed and then later feel so bad from the pain I cant tolerate the sensation of any clothing on my body; it hurts, so I take everything off and crawl into bed under the covers totally naked. Other days I feel better after i get dressed and I can get out and do my errands and so getting up and dressed was good for me that day. I just never know what will be good for me so I try one thing and then another. I always try the most functional things first and if I cant do them I regress back to doing some less functional things and I dont beat myself up about it. I know now that I try my best and my pain varies alot as I dont good control. I can be OK for a few hours and then wham in 5 minutes i go from OK to extreme pain not OK. it comes on suddenly. Plus I have different sources of pain. I suffer with Migraines which make me ill all over from chills and vomiting to all over achiness like a virus. I also have Fibromyalgia, spinal stenosis, herniated disks, radiculopathy, vulvodynia, and a host of undiagnosed ills. Right now I am in the process of getting approved for new MRIs as I havent had any in 3 years and the pain has worsened considerably for me since last March. I am looking into some illnesses of the brain stem and things such as pudendal nerve entrapment. For the last 12 years since I have been suffering with pain they havent ever found much on those MRIs so I wont be surprised if the results this time are the same but the pain is very real. a
Guest guest
Thanks . It's nice to know I am not the only one who can't make the get dressed every day goal. I am going to try a little harder to do this, but I am going to be ok with myself if I can't. Hugs back to you CandyCares > I totally agree with others that looking our best goes a long way in > helping many things. Guest guest
Candy, Noticed that you have a lot of responses and haven't read them all yet buy in my eyes you are not crazy. I have to work so have to get up and get dressed every day except on Saturday. If I know I don't have to go anywhere which I always hope is the case, I could care less if I stay comfortable all day long. My dogs sure don't care what I look like. My pain is so bad that to me at least one day a week I am going to have the least amount of discomfort. I say whatever you can do to be in the least amount of pain is what you need to do for you. I think everyone has to make that decision for themselves. If my pain has taught me anything, it's to be very empathetic to anyone who says he is suffering. Have a good weekend everyone. Guest guest
I was one that wrote it makes ME feel a little better, a little more normal, but that's just me. If i can just get my hair washed, i know it will not be a horrible day. That's usually MY sign but its not for everyone and many days, my pain med doesn't help at all. For me a large part is how i see myself. Right now, I have my jammies on the bottom, a sweatshirt is on top but my hair is done and makeup too, lol. My cat has a look at me. Candy wrote: > Hi all. Guest guest
Well written . > There isnt one right way of coping and we each find the path that helps us. > We are all so different. I have extreme Achilles tendon problems and everyone is always telling me how I can manage that pain. Drink more water, drink apple cider water, wear shoes with a heel, never wear shoes with a heel. And on and on. So I continue to struggle down my little path and trying to help others too.
Guest guest
I don't get dressed every day. If I don't have to go out I usually don't bother to get dressed. I don't feel any less because of this. All you can do is your best Pam Candy wrote: > Hi all. Guest guest
I have days when getting dressed just hurts way too much.I have days when the shower feels like razors cutting my skin. I have 4 different pain syndromes, each causing their own version of pain attacks. I have many other disabilities that cause their own problems I try to get dressed .Some days I succeed and other days when I don't I wear long dresses that don't have buttons or snaps. It's like wearing a long nighty without looking like it. I try not wearing jammies into stores. I'm a big woman and it just doesn't look right in my eye. I am sorry if i insulted anyone it wasn't my intention. I try to look OK to help my depression. I am old fashioned. I dress old fashioned. My grandmother was my inspiration. She had 15 kids and was in a wheelchair most of her life due to an accident. She always managed to look her best. She raised her kids and dealt with a lot of pain.I only hope that I stay as strong as she did. Blessed me, Ms.Katurah
