Guest guest
Being a pain sufferer myself, I would never ever ever say that someone who said they were in pain was not in pain. If someone says they are in pain, they are. I say that because I am in pain, and it disturbs me greatly when doctors and others don't listen or seem to care. I believe the reason we are treated the way we are is because there are so many abusers out there, and people who go in just to get drugs to sell on the streets. There are addicts saying they're in pain, just to get high. Drug thieves, and street drug makers trying to get their hands on meds to cut them and make other drugs. This is not the case with me, nor many others! I'm not sure about Australia, but here in the US I have heard of doctors losing licenses, and going to jail and court over prescribing opoids and narcotics. It's like the doctors have their hands tied here. Some doctors probably have that complex where they just like to be in control, others probably want to be extra careful and barely medicate the pain, and others are simply afraid of losing their license or being thrown in jail. Again, why does this whole narcotics and controlled substances thing have to be such a problem? Because there are folks out there who misuse and abuse medications. Sadly. Just like a simple one. I have bad allergies at some times of the year, and I need Sudafed. The old medication I used had 120mg of Sudafed, time released, and I would take 2/day. That's 240mg/day. And I might take these pills for a day or up to two weeks, depending on the cause of my allergies. However, today, I must show my driver's license to buy Sudafed, and I can only buy 240mg in total, at any one time. That is one day's worth! And, that is not time released, so it doesn't work the same. Also, the medication that I used to use, the time released one (Deconamine), no longer contains Sudafed. It now has phenylephrine, which does not work at all for me. Again, I'm left completely out in the cold. When I get those allergies, and my sinuses swell and my head feels like it will fall off my body, my eyes itch and tear, my nose runs, and I get itchy all over, but no, I cannot treat my allergies appropriately any more. It's really sad! I talked to the local police about the situation with the Sudafed, and the chief of police, himself, told me that the restrictions around the Sudafed are for my own safety. To that, I say hogwash! He continued to say how these kids get the Sudafed, and then put it into large containers or bathtubs and then make other drugs like meth or exstacy. I said, " I don't care. If they want to kill themselves, let them. I have to go to work, I have bills to pay, mouths to feed, and don't forget I pay your salary. " He replied, " It is all for your safety. Just think of those thrill-seekers high on exstacy or meth, and then they drive high, they could kill you, they might sell those drugs to someone you know. And, you as the tax payer pay for the emergency room visits for ODs, so you see, it's all for your protection " (blah blah blah). The authorities are so convinced they're doing the right thing. Sadly, we suffer. Jade
