Guest guest
, You said it was way too expensive to live in California if you were on disability but do you think that would be true if you were retired and could live in a retirement village or community or do they not have those out there? I was thinking about a senior community like they have here for people over 55 or some of them for those over 60. The apartments are for those who can live independently but prices are usually less because they are based on income. I don't need someone to provide nursing care yet. Guest guest
I live in San Diego, am on disability and the only way I can survive here is by sharing expenses with another person. It is a very small apartment in a seniors only complex, and rent is not pro-rated. Were I to lose my roommate somehow, I would have to move to another state. However, the weather is perfect year round, a little heat in July, August, a light jacket in winter. Being a stone's throw from the beaches, the zoo, Sea World, etc. makes it a desirable place for us. Would not move unless I have to. J.J. Guest guest
Yes i do think it would be expensive even in a retirement community in California. I get an early retirement check also. I'm waiting to get into a low income apt (was #400 on the list for these apts since last year and they weren't even built yet) and for a 2 bedroom in a good area is $951.00 per month!!! That is low income here if you want to live in a safe area. I'm now # 2 on the list.
Guest guest
Hi JJ. We come to San Diego 6 months a year. We are full time RV'ERS. We live in a tiny travel trailer from April to October. The rest of the year we are in Phoenix, AZ. It's a wonderful thing weather wise. I hardly notice any " seasons " . We just took a big income hit of $1,100.00 a month. My hubby retired on a special deal at 55. At that time they had given him 3 months to live. Now 8 years later he is still here and they still give him dire warnings when he sees a doctor. So we will have to find somewhere else to go next summer as the RV park we stay in is just too expensive. But I agree with you, the weather is da best!
