,

I am so sorry this is happening to you. My ex husband had Chrons and I was

19 when I was married and he got Chrons then and this was years ago. I saw the

pain he went thru and I never have felt for so much for someone I couldn't do

anything for.

You main goal should be to get your pain down and no matter how much it takes.

I hope you have a good pain doctor that doesn't mind working with you to get the

pain under control.

You have to because it effects thing in your body organs and you need

for them to be healthy.

I would find the Chron's website,www.ccfa.org, Chron's and Colitis

Foundation of America, that gives you all the current research on Chrons and

support.

I found, The Survival Guide for Intractable Pain Patients, by Dr.

Forest Tenent which can be downloaded thru pain topics.org for free or just type

in the title and author and you can get it that way. Dr. Tenent also writes a

guide for family and loved ones.

This group also has provided me with support throughout my pain journey nd you

will find the members and moderators the greatest there is.

Welcome, , and I hope you get relief soon. I, too, am working on

getting evaluations for my back pain so it can be treated effectively rather

than have pain meds thrown at me without knowing why.

You will find the members supportive and always there.

Bennie,

It's amazing now how many people I meet who either have or know people

who have had crohn's. When I was fist diagnosed, I knew nothing about

it, and it was extremely difficult to find knowledgable doctors.

The infusion yesterday does seem to be helping (I don't *think* it's

psychosomatic!). I normally get very sick after eating even " safe "

foods and aside from some rumbling and gas, I've not had any cramping

or pain today, and that's after a traditional thanksgiving dinner!

I don't have a specific doctor for pain management yet. I have an

HMO, and I have to go through a process before I see certain

specialists. As it is, though, my PCP is very understanding and

sympathetic. He prescribes medications adequately, and is very

willing to increase the doses if they aren't working.

Right now I have a very good gastro, which has been a battle for me in

the past, and the HMO is fantastic about making sure I get as many

tests as they can think of, and they definitely don't hesitate to send

me to the hospital if I am in acute pain.

Thanks for the direction to the CCFA website. I've been and I do stay

up with new discoveries. It's a benefit, actually, that more

" traditional " pills are more effective for me since they are more

time-tested and long-term effects are known. It gives me great info,

though, if I'm in need of a quick look-up.

Thanks also for the info on Dr. Tenent. I will read it. While my

husband is SO understanding about all of this, anything to make him

" get it " even more cannot go awry.

Do you have any thoughts about what might be causing your pain? Is it

something you've had before? How long have you had it?
