Keavan, I take my meds at 5 am in the morning and I have inadvertently woke up and forgot if I took my med or not and took another dose. So it is imperative to use a med minder for me so I don't forget and don't run out and keep track. You are right but also you should have break thu medications for time like those and you might discuss that with your doctor since we all know when we over extend, you just can't call your doctor at 3 am or on the weekend or wait the day to two days when they call back for you to pick up a scrip or them to call it in. Be prepared. I actually had one of my doctors to tell me to stash some meds back for those bad days. You can also ask you insurance for an override for vacation days and they dispense a week in advance or " going out of town " but I would not do that very often, a pharmacist got my medications that way for me. You should be getting your medications a week in advance anyway as sometimes they have to order them or it also plans for arranging to have it and not be without them but I would discuss a break thru medication with your doctor for those times you have problems. I agree that there are times we need to have support other than normal days. Bennie
Guest guest
Hi Everyone I mark on my calendar the week I will need my two narcotics refill. Then I call to remind the nurse, and by Thursday I call too be sure it's read and pick them up on Friday. It's very wise (I learned the hard way) to keep enough narcotics to last an extra week, if something comes up. Skip a few here and there, until you have enough. Using a daily medication box is the only way I can keep track of my medications. I might take my morning medication, then can't remember later. So then I can just check the box. I put the number of break through narcotics in a separate container, so I can remember how many I have taken. I can take 6 Lortabs, but I usually place 3 or 4. One more very essential thing about the medication box, is that it can prevent an overdose.

Good morning Kaylene and everybody else, Whenever I get a new prescription and the old one isn't quite ready yet to refill, I give my prescriptions to the pharmasist to hold onto for me until it's time for a refill. They have a filing system whereby they throw out the oldest of the RX's,while I keep filling it up,lol. They have no problem refilling them for me. PS I've a new email address, because somebody hijacked this one. PLEASE send all other emails to; Jocko56beer@... Thank you very much,
