Guest guest
Hi, Becky. I don't know the cost, but there are some really awesome senior villages out here in California! I went to visit one of the managers who retired from my company, and she didn't tell me that she lived in a senior community. I got there and the security post asked me for my name. I got a little placard for my car window. I drove around the village looking for her place. Mostly golf carts on the roads there. Some with cool little flags (I think so they can tell which cart is which. ha ha). I found the house. It looked like a regular home, and was totally built for convenience inside! I asked if I could live in their little community, but she said the requirement is 65 or older. She took me to the way cool recreation center. It was huge. There were classes going on in every room. There was a whole other room filled with art and crafts, photos, statues, you name it, all things that the seniors had created. There was a group of quilters making a quilt. Then, my friend and her husband took me to one of the 3 restaurants in the village. The food was delicious. And, what I thought was really cute was that they paid with their address! They get a bill at the end of the month for their dining or other stuff they buy. There is a convenience store in the village, a library, a church, every other street was a few golf holes (a lot of green grass), and you can just roll up to the golf areas and golf a few holes if you want. The community was close to shops and public transportation if you wanted to go off the premesis, but honestly - who would? I could live there nicely and I don't think I'd ever want to leave! Everything at your fingertips. Oh, and they have swimming pools, jacuzzis, exercise rooms. There is an on-premesis doctor, and emergency facilities. They also have an area for assisted living. There are lots of such places in California. Some are where you buy the home, others you can rent or lease. Jade
