Hi Debbie, welcome to the list. One thing I've learned is that some people get

it and some don't and there isn't much you can do about it. But it's so hard.

Sometimes I just want to shake people and scream " Grab a f***ing clue! "

Anyway, glad you decided to jump in.

Welcome to the group Debbie. I am Sharon and I have one son, Danny who has

PDD-NOS although I suspect it is really Aspergers.

I also am in the process of a divorce in which I did the filing, husband just

didn't get it about my needs and the fact that Danny has Autism. Well after

filing he has done a lot of changing. Needless to say we are back and forth

between divorce and sticking it out.

I hope you like this group - they have always been there for me. So I know they

will always be there for you.

Hi Debbie,

Welcome aboard. Sorry to hear you are going to have to be solo care taker

for your children. Does their dad agree with the diagnosis? or is that part

of the problem in you r marriage?

I have 2 son's both HFA although the youngest is probably aspergers. It

does get to be a challenge.

Yes, well, here in CA you can avoid any vaccines they require by signing an

affidavit stating that you oppose any vaccines. It's your right as the

child's parent.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm originally

from New York, but relocated to Chicago in 1994.

Have a question for everyone. starts his

third year at Headstart in 3 weeks (he turned 5 on

August 2nd but I didn't feel he was ready for

Kindergarten). Anyway, he is required by the state to

receive the varicella vaccine, which neither one of my

kids received yet because my ped didn't recommend it.

What are your thoughts on this vaccine??

Little know and definately not advertised - you don't have to get

your kids their shots. You can object. You have to sign a form,

stating that you object to your child receiving whatever shot is

required. That is unless you live in the state of Wisconsin, where

they passed a law, this past spring, making it a gross misdormeaner

to not have your kids vaccinated. Just ask your school for the form

and fill it out. End of problem.

I am sure someone will say this but, you dont have to give your child

any vaccine you dont want to. Just tell them you want to sign the

waiver requiring vaccines. I have signed one for each of my boys.

would not have recommened it, but now she does. So we gave it to him - no ill

affects.

Both my kids have had the Varicella vaccine. Since then, they have BOTH been

exposed to chicken pox an average of 3 times each...while it was in it's most

contagious stages. Neither of them have gotten it.......I'm all for it, and my

pediatrician's office has it as part of the required shots....I'd go for it.

I never sleep either. Usually not by choice. I understand the strain on the

Hi Becky ! Welcome to our group. This is a great group of folks, lots of

support, so don't worry about rambling/venting! We all do it ;-)

My dh and I are the same. I work for my dad , I work from 7am till 1.30pm. Dh

works 2.30pm till 11pm. We see each other for about 40 mins a day.

>We really dont have time for each other at all. <

Yep, know that one very well too.

>The past year I have been staying up till 3AM and sometime later. Not always

out of choice. I am just so tense sleep is just not something that will

happen. <

Are you on any meds? I'm on Prozac. About 6 months ago, I was in the same

spot.Couldn't have slept if I'd wanted to, plus being up with our son through

the night, getting up at 6 for work. Girls here got me to go to the docs, maybe

something for you to look into?

> Bob knows and says he understands. But I feel at

times he is taking this personally. I have tired to explain to him that I am

handling everything here, the house...and failing on it the past couple of

months, laundry...also failing...grocery, 97% of the cooking, making appts.

for Drs and councelors and making sure everybody gets to those appts with

all the right info., paying the bills and dealing with the nasty calls when

they dont get paid. How do the rest of you handle all this? I have

absolutely NO time for me and havent for years. Bob gets out and hunts and

is in a bass club so he gets out regularly. also he has 4 hours monday -

friday in the truck driving home not dealing with these things.<

Yep, know this one very well too. I make sure the bills are paid, I make sure

the laundry is done, I make sure there is food in the cupboards, blah blah

blah..... My dh sleeps on our couch as Andy our son comes into our bed through

the night, even though I tell him to lift him, dh just says,*he doesn't want to

disturb Andy and seeing as he is a mummy's boy, he might wake up and have a

meltdown*.

Dh and I get out together about twice a year if we're lucky. Cause he works

late, at the weekend I get my girlfriends to come round to our house for a movie

and a bottle of wine.

I'm glad you found us!
