Guest guest
Jan and all, You may or may not know (if you were in the bathroom while I was typing, LOL) that I have an online support group for for " The Seven Secrets OF Slim People. " (007Secrets) We have a member that is running a Weigh Down Workshop at her church as well. Anyhow, with all the talk of WDW (Weigh Down Workshop) I had to go to the bookstore and read about it . . . I knew nothing about it and I hate not having an opinion or real knowledge on which to base an opinion. So I picked up the book and skimmed through it . . . Some of the principals seems like very good 'No diet' (ND) principals. However, there is some dieting type messages that could lead to deprovation/rebound/weight gain cycling . . . like never eat more than 1/2 of what is served . . . Yeah well, what happened when God pointed out the apple to Eve? Put the word don't in front of anything and it becomes more attractive . . . My personal feeling is that I need to keep my relationship with God separate from my relationship with food . . . The connection for me is only the one that God made us and we work perfectly . . . reconnect and relearn body trust . . . trust hunger, trust cravings . . . marvel at our biology . . .. even surgically altered, we are renewed and better able to reconnect with our bodies . . . So, weight loss and control can definitely be spiritual, absolutely emotional . . . but, I personally draw the line at religious . . . If I failed would I lose faith or believe myself to be lacking? Besides, I think we all prayed for a way out of fat hell . . . and found an answer too! I find that these days I love talking diet talk with people . . . as a matter of fact if FAMOUS DIETS and FAMOUS DIETERS were subjects on Jeopardy and I was a contestant I have no doubt I would win the big bucks$$$! LOL I have known only one person that has ever gone to a diet program and lost the weight and kept it off forever . . . ONE and it was the Diet Center . . . Guest guest
Weigh down is not about how much God loves you. That does't change regardless of the circumstances. It is, however, a program of support and diet among church members. I'll agree like any other diet, the permanent success rate is probably not high. I'm sure your friend is in the same desperate shoes we were once in, hoping for the diet that will finally work. I never found that particular diet but I know of several people who have. Who is to say this one won't be it? Lets hope it is because maybe she is not ready for surgery but is bothered by your success (hence the censorship)!! Tricia in MS diet talk Dear graduates: I had a weird thing happen at work today. There was a ad in our local paper for a " diet club " forming. It is the one where God is going to take away your desire for food. They call it " weigh down " Before anyone slams me for this don' bother. It just breaks my heart that these things don't work for 99% of the people who try them, and now we have God not loving them enough to make them quit eating! Anyway I mentioned to my sister that one of our salesladies is sponsoring it, (we've talked about WLS, she would be a perfect candidate) and my sister says " oh buy the way Sue is doing it too " Sue being the one who works with me who I know deep down thinks WLS is a cop out, when nothing has worked for her either. What bugs me is she would never have brought it up front of me. Now I talk about WLS so why should she not talk about " weigh down " .. Do you guys have people censor their " diet " conversations around you? How does it make you feel? Jan C. 3-11-98 RNY
