If you start having problems with the patch, ask your Doctor to put you on

another extended release opioid. There are many out there that he can try. It

is better to be on an extended release medication than on a short term one like

Vicodin or Oxycodone. With An extended release, abbreviated ER you only have to

take 2 or 3 a day. The pain relief lasts for hours instead of the 2 to 3 hours

that you get with Vicodin or Percocet. So ask for an ER medication if the

patches don't work.
