Hi Kendra

Does your neuro think you have 'meralgia paresthetica' (lateral femoral

cutaneous nerve pain [LCFN]- in the groin, thigh and running down to the knee)

which is caused by a trapped nerve)?

If you do, I have that too (amongst other things) and had two surgeries for it:

the first was to release the trapped nerve and the second was to sever it. The

first surgery worked for a few months but the 2nd one didn't - neuro couldn't

find the nerve!! (I can see the funny side - he was embarrassed)

Anyway I just wanted to let you know that a numb thigh is no biggie for me -

mine is permanently numb now but doesn't bother me at all or affect my ability

to walk etc. The LCFN is a sensory nerve only.

I hope you are feeling better soon :)

for " nerve entrapment " and if that worked he could " snip the covering of the

ligament that runs from my hip to my thigh " . He said that might stop the thigh

pain but I would not longer have feeling in my thigh. no thanks.

that is exactly what he thinks I have. He seemed unsure, so it did not give me

confidence. I have pain that runs down the outside of my thigh and wraps around

to my shin and into the top of my foot. Seems to me they are all related.

Everyone else I've seen says L5, but he is a neurosurgeon. Thanks for the

input. I really was leery of total numbness.
