Is it through your same ins carrier? Debbie >> Hi Debbie, and all, When you resign from a job the place of employment is required to offer the employee the opportunity to continue their insurance coverage for up to 18 months. ( 24 months in the event the employee is determined to be disabled). The cost of the COBRA is the amount the employees regularly pays (usually deducted from the paycheck) PLUS the amount the employer pays. To give you some ballpark figure. My COBRA payment for CIGNA insurance for medical and dental for myself only is $295.00/month. I couldn't afford to put my children on. Indiana has a thing called Hoosier Healthwise which provides insurance for children who don't have any coverage. Hopes this helps. Mine was 397.00 a month and I didn't get the benefit of Dental. How ever I understand and appreciate your struggle. Does the Hoosier Healthwise work? I've heard of it.
