Guest guest
It is so hard to get the medical care you need here in the U.S even with insurance. Sometimes I think, if I were a dog they would have put me down LONG AGO! lol S************* UK Donna wrote: No free health care anymore (unless you are unable to pay). Or possible will not be brought in no one care afford it. No free prescriptions anymore, including pain medications which i think is wrong. Asthma meds would not be necessarily covered. More tax needs to be paid. For example higher council tax and car tax.
Guest guest
Hi Donna None of those things was ever " free. " The money comes from tax dollars. If there aren't enough available tax dollars, then some of the cost has to come from the individual. From what I've read, it appears that the UK will follow the Australian and Canadian models a little more closely for now. Medication in those countries is covered on a sliding scale (ability to pay). It is still way, way, way cheaper than in the US. I've been in the USA for 10 years now. My basic insurance is over $600 per month. Then I pay a co-pay on each prescription. That varies from $10 to $150. Right now I am staring at paying off $3,500 in extra medical bills that insurance doesn't cover. I'm need some dental work done, that I have to defer as that will be another $4,000. I would rather pay the bit the UK is asking for, than fight through the lack of a system that I'm dealing with now. The UK still looks darned good to me!!! It was announced yesterday that the budget deficit would come on to play.
