I have posted replys to a few other posts recently, but I haven't given an

update on my status for some time now. I wanted to do so in order to provide

some hope for those who are suffering from chronic pain.

I was a police officer until January of 2005, when I was severely

injured on duty. As a result of the injury I had to take a disability

retirement.

I injured multiple levels of my lower back, pelvis and nerve damage affecting my

right foot. I had back surgery, not successful.

I have had numerous injections, and treatments of several kinds. I had

kind of resolved myself to having to take prescription pain meds in

order to keep the chronic pain to a somewhat reasonable level.

I have been a pain clinic patient since December of 2005. I changed the pain

doctor at the clinic and he brought me hope.

In August I had radio frequency oblation done on the lower levels of my back,

followed by several weeks of physical therapy. During the physical therapy, we

learned that I had also suffered damage to my S.I. joint. I had an S.I. joint

injection recently.

I am very pleased to report that since September of 2008, my pain level has

decreased significantly. We have been able to reduce all of my narcotic pain

meds by 1/3 so far, with the next adjustment schedule for December.

I just wanted to pass this on to provide some hope for others who are out there

suffering from chronic pain. I never thought that I would receive greater

decrease in pain without a greater increase in

narcotic pain medicine. My quality of life has been improving, and

hopefully will continue to improve.

I hope that others experience the same pain relief in the future as I

have been given. This is an awesome group and a great source of

encouragement. I will continue to keep everyone in my thoughts and

prayers.
