Guest guest
I am new to this group and wanted to say thank you to the moderators. I have explained to my partner that I hold back a lot of what I tell him, because it is so depressing, but I do need the occasional ear. He is very supportive, don't get me wrong, but, frankly, I wouldn't want to listen to me all day either! I have had multiple tests for my various types of pain, and although I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, the pains are so varied, moving and most often not at the trigger points, that I think there is something neurological as well. Many years ago I had a brain scan for lesions for Multiple Sclerosis, but it turned out negative. The doctor has wanted to put me on antidepressants which have been approved for fibromyalgia, but I have had miserable luck with many types of antidepressants in the past and refused. At that point, he said, I will see you in three months and eventually you will be on these medications. I am almost 55, (live in West Virginia) have to support myself, so disability is not an option. So I wonder what do people do? I will post more, but just wanted to say hi to folks here! Robin
Guest guest
Hi Becky! Wow, how did you fall off the second floor deck? I read something about wasps and a dog?? Eight pets...that's a lot! I've got just the one cat, but we want another, and I want a ferret some day. Nice to meet you...got to be cold right now in South Dakota! Bad enough here at 31 degrees...I heard Minneapolis was in the negatives. I hate the cold; makes me feel worse...does it affect you? ~Jewel --- Becky in SD wrote: > I want to welcome all the new members as well. I am Becky. I live in South Dakota. I have several health issues I deal with, but I try not to let them define me. I was for a long time, it contributed to a suicide attempt. But, I tend to be silly and joke a lot. I have eight animals. Four cats, two dogs, and two hamsters. :-)
Guest guest
Becky, First, that is a terrible thing that happened to you - falling of your deck! Bless your heart for dealing with all the extra agony that had to of brought on. Second, I totally agree about not letting my disease define me. As a matter of fact, there are many people that don't like the fact that I won't stop being as active as I am with my disease. One of them being my pain specialist. He told me the other day that I shouldn't need my medication with my spinal column stimulator in place. I told him, looking him square in the eye, if I don't have my medication to help when I am active, I will be calling his office screaming in pain because I will be at my 10 that he calls a 20! I keep trying to stress to him that this is my last semester to graduation! After I have my degree, we'll see where I can get a job at that may allow me to slow down a little.
