Just want to warn any one that uses the fentanyl transdermal patch.

I made a big mistake not once but twice.

I was just put on in this past April, and when I got home from the hospital my

DH surprised me with a big fluffy heating blanket.

Two weeks later my Dr. changed my pain medications over to the duragesic patch.

I have heard a lot about it before from others who take it, and most of them

have really liked it.

So After I tried it for the first time, a day after I had it on I was literally

overdosing. Worse part was, I happened to be at the docs. One of my other many

specialists! I rather not say what I said to him, however. This happened again a

few days later, Sparing me the embarrassment, My D.H. wrote down the wrong day.

However I did set up my O.T. P.T. and the people to set my home O2 up since I

need it 24/7 now.

They all came and I don't remember a thing. I'm just fortunate my cousin owns

the home health care so when they got there my D.H. was on the phone with my

pain docs nurse.

She asked Bruce ( My D.H.) if I have been using a heating pad, or a heating

blanket. Well here I have been using the heating blanket every night since I

have been home from the hospital.

She went on telling my D.H. that the heating blanket, heating pads and tanning

beds tends to open up your pores and the medicine dumps into you system all at

one time.

I'm on one of the higher doses of this medicine, so I only could pray that even

though they do told me I had overdosed, I had no clue what was going on.

I just wanted to share with all of you a very important lesson which I didn't

do! MAKE SURE YOU READ THE PAMPHLET THAT COMES WITH YOUR MEDICATION AND NOT JUST

THE BOTTLE.! If I would have read the insert I would have never have kept my

blanket on,

Now I'm lost without my blanket, since I use it whenever I'm in bed.
