Guest guest
Okay -- We've not had a fun few weeks here. To recap, got a horrible double ear infection. Dummy me went ahead with the Zithromax antibiotic which really seemed to mess up her gut. She was showing signs of major ketosis -- so we lowered her ratio from 3.4 to 3.2. I also started, very slowly, some acidopholus. Throughout the awful ear infection, we had gone 10 days seizure-free, but the ear infection was preceded by a major seizure that required Diastat. Before, after and during the Zithromax, her gut has seemed very screwed up. She's thrown up periodically and makes this loud gagging sound that is either followed up by heaving, vomiting or a seizure. This is scary, because this is the place we were in two years ago when she went status. Anyway, the day after I started the acidopholus, the night seizures came back. At first it was 1-2/mild ones/night. Last night and the night before, the entire night was filled with seizures and yesterday and today she's had one in the daytime, which is rare for her. I really don't think it's the ratio drop, because her ketones are still showing stronger than ever -- large in the morning and " black " at nighttime. I stopped the acidopholus two days ago. I know I've read on this list that some kids have problems with a yeast die-off that causes seizures -- I'm assuming this is something you work through and are better when you get to the other side. I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do. I'm not sure if it's the acidopholus or if I should have stopped it, but it was the only thing " new. " Also, her gut seems to be in horrid shape (when she's having seizures, you could practically hear her stomach rumbling in the other room). Besides acidopholus, what else could I do? Any thoughts out there?--D __________________________________________________
