Guest guest
Hi Tamara--My mom has fibro and chronic fatigue syndrome. She takes celebrex for hers and she has to exercise. When her pride and joy passed away in May(Huey, her cocker spainel), so quit playing tennis. She has always been very active in tennis, and when she did that, her fibro got so bad, so could hardly move. So, the key to hers is moving--walking, running, something that you enjoy that'll keep you active. Otherwise, your bones will really ache and ache. Keep me posted on what your blood work shows and I hope it's nothing bad. Smiles--Amie Fibromyalgia? I went to my doctor appt today to find out if all the pain I have been having is due to arthritis and the doctor thinks it is fibromyalgia. Now I know that there are a few people on this list who also have this. What are you doing for it....is there anything to do for it....what causes it....what does this mean? I was just shocked when she said she thought it was this. They took blood to rule out lupus and a couple other things, so I should know for sure soon. Thanks all..... Guest guest
Thanks Amie. I just went on line to check it out and the more I read about it the more I think that this is definetely what I've got. I have always thought that it was just the beginnings of arthritis because my mom has arthritis really bad. But this sounds so much like what I have. I am tired always, I can't sleep soundly, I wake up tired and stiff and sore. I have headaches a lot, the irritated bowel syndrome, and depression with are also associated with this is all there. I feel kinda like I did when someone said the autism word and I looked it up on the computer and it was just like OMG. This is totally Ebony. Now it's me. Fibromyalgia is totally me. I recognize myself when I read about it. It's really wierd for me to have a name for this. Thanks again. Tamara --- Amie Lehman wrote: > Hi Tamara--My mom has fibro and chronic fatigue > syndrome. Guest guest
Tamara, That is one of a long list of diagnoses my little sister was given. She takes tons of pain meds. She's also the one who went blind and who's 2YO was just diagnosed with PDD. Hmm... Guest guest
Tamara, I have fibromyalgia and though I don't have the extra diagnosis I believe I have the chronic fatigue as well...more often than not they go hand in hand. I wish I could help you by telling you what I am doing for it that is helping but at this point I am doing nothing...just trying to live with it the best I can. I am sensitive to a lot of meds and anything I take for my fibro is going to knock me out so I wouldn't be able to take care of Brocky. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Exercise is very important if you're able to do it without causing even more pain. The greatest source of information I have found so far is a book by Devin Starlanyl...but I can't tell you the title because I'm not home...I'm at my mom's on her computer because ours crashed and I have no idea when it'll be up and running. I'm in the process of reading/skimming all 470 pieces of mail in my inbox and then going nomail until we get our computer fixed. I THINK the book is something like The Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Syndrome Handbook and it has tons of information in it. I think it cost somewhere around 20 or 25 dollars but you might find it at your library. Once I get my darn computer up and running again I would be more than happy to chat with you if you would like. I am going nomail on my mailing lists (there IS one for fibromyalgia too if you're interested...it's also on yahoo and I believe it is called something like fibromyalgia-cfs if you want to look for it...they are also very nice people and very helpful) but you can email me privately at Mommy@... but I can't guarantee how long it will take for me to answer...hopefully we'll be up and running by Monday. ANYWAY...hope the book title or the mailing list info helps...talk to you later! Jen in Iowa Fibromyalgia? Guest guest
Hi, I haven't been able to figure out what pain I have. I can't even have my hubby hug me because it hurts for him to do that. The doctor told me that after radiation and chemo that I could have bone pain. I have no idea what that is suppose to feel like. Seems like I get rid of my brain tumor and then I develop other things that have to be taken care of because of the radiation and chemo. Pain is pain to me. I think I have pain in my joints. I know I have some type of arthritis, esp in my back, but I keep getting cramps and pain in my feet and cramps in my legs both front and back. The doctor thinks I could be dehydrated and I do take zyrtec or benadryl sometimes for allergies but I am constantly drinking water or decaf ice tea. I had really bad knee pain the first few weeks of radiation or chemo, I can't remember which but it was VERY painful that I couldn't stand it and I didn't know what to take for it. Guest guest
, I do not know much about radiation and chemo other than watching family and friends go through it. It can be extremely painful. You should talk to your oncologist or primary care doctor about the pain. They will be able to tell you if what you are feeling is or is not related to the radiation or chemo. If you have not read it, I highly recommend Lance Armstrong's book called: It's Not About The Bike. I am not a sports fan and knew nothing about cycling. But a friend gave it to me when I had cervical cancer. It is very informative and inspirational even to a couch potato like me. One of the things I remember most is how hard the chemo was on him. He describes how his cycling taught him to ignore pain, but he found the chemo to be very painful. Sorry for your pain. Check in with your doctors before jumping to another diagnosis.
