I can't say that the act itself of getting dressed daily makes me feel better, but I can say that once I am dressed I think i do feel better. It's the little things. The small accomplishments. And, silly as it may seem, thinking through what to wear, and then getting things on and in order, matching, etc. All that makes me feel as if I have accomplished something, when I can stand in front of the mirror and say, " There, that's better! " Clothes can change my mood, whether they are indoor or outdoor. I do know that bright colors make me happy. Sometimes mixing and matching patterns makes me feel silly. When I was younger, I used to see older folks and think, what is that they're wearing? But, ha ha. Nowadays, I think to myself, after all I have been through, I deserve to wear anything I please. Period. Sometimes I like to match. Sometimes, I don't. I figure no one has to look at me if they don't want to. And if they do look and don't like what they see, how is that my fault. Nope. I don't care what they think. As long as I feel good in my matching or mis-matched clothes, I'm the silver lining on my own cloud. Oh, last thing is, that when I buy clothes these days, it's not so much about the style. It's about how the material and fabric texture feels on my skin (it must be soft and smooth). I cannot stand itchy, or stiff. The size of the clothing has to be flowing and comfortable to move and stretch. I don't like tight or binding. I must have room to 'breathe' in my clothes. I read before that colors can stimulate healing, creativity, positivity, etc. I notice that I wear a lot of greens. All colors of green. The book I read said that green is the color of life and healing. That green is used in hospital recovery wards where patients need to make strides in recovering their health. I guess that mentally, my mind knows that I need green. Just curious, what are the colors that are the favorites in the group? Smiling and wearing comfy lime green jammies.
