Guest guest
I was pulled over last week for crossing a yellow line on a state hwy by CHP. I hadn't been drinking, but was asked about medication use and admitted I take prescription morphine. I was handcuffed, arrested, taken to the hospital where I submitted to a blood test, then kept in a cell for 6 hours and released. They towed my car, I had no way home and when released it was after dark. I live in a small town and was a mile from home and semi-rural. Ended up walking home. Now I have a court date for mid October for DUI and have no idea what is going to happen at this. They did not suspend my license at the time of arrest, I had to get a neighbor to drive me 40 miles to pick my car up the next day at a cost of $350 for tow/storage. I live on SSDI and have no money. Will they put me in Jail for not being able to pay a fine on my court date? Or will I even get an option of a fine, will they pull my license and lock me up? Guest guest
I don't know what the laws are in California but where I live, driving while under the influence has some pretty harsh penalties. If I were you I would look up the traffic laws in your state and see what the mandatory penalty is and what they could possibly tack on if the judge was in the mood to do so. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I do know the highway patrol hates when people cross a yellow line. I avoid driving the highways as much as possible. We live in a rural area and I can get everywhere by going the back roads. That does bring up a good question, do we tell the truth when asked if we take prescription medications?
