Where do they find them. These responders are well-wishing, do-gooders, and they are (in their minds) trying to help and be of service, but they tend to give you their out-of-the-box, one-size-fits-all advice. It's useless, but gosh, since they've heard it said 1000 times, they make it their job to repeat it one more time for your benefit, of course. For example, as soon as I mention pain, and before I even finish my sentence, I'm interrupted and the first phrase I hear is, " Have you tried Motrin? " It's predictable, and sad. I'm not saying everyone is like this. Some people really want to know more and learn about what's going on, but that is rare - at least in my experience. And, even then, the non-pain-folks, just can't quite grasp the raw-ness of chronic pain. How it just gnaws you senseless. And, when I'm having a bad pain day, I really have to bite my tongue when I hear those out-of-the-box miracle cures. I do however like the crazy, inventive, alternative cures. Those are always interesting. Some or good for a laugh, or amusing, and others are so far out that hey, they just might work, and are worth a try, just for the mentioning.
