Guest guest
I've stumbled across a book on chronic pain that I am really enjoying. The author is a journalist with chronic pain who got an opportunity to write a series of articles about chronic pain. She covers the history, different ways of looking at and treating pain, religious, social and psychological interpretations, and interweaves her own and several other peoples struggles with chronic pain. It is easy to read, thought provoking and emotionally satisfying. I am going to recommend it to my doctor. It is: THE PAIN CHRONICLES Cures, Myths, Mysteries, Prayers, Diaries, Brain Scans, Healing, and the Science of Suffering By Thernstrom Here is the NY Times book review: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/20/books/20book.html?ref=books And this is a link to an excerpt of the book: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/20/books/20book.html?scp=1 & sq=%22Excerpt:%20%E2%8\ 0%98The%20Pain%20Chronicles%E2%80%99%20%22 & st=cse
