Guest guest
I'm not exactly clear on why many opiates have tylenol or ibuprofen as an additional ingredient. Since I am allergic to both (tylenol and ibuprofen), I have to have the opiate-only version, and that works just fine. One of the reasons that makes the combo unclear to me is that high doses of tylenol will deteriorate your liver, and high doses of ibuprofen will do away with your kidneys. So, why would any drug company add these things. If, someone were to have headaches due to the opiates, then that particular individual could take an additional dose of the tylenol or ibuprofen on an as needed basis. Why include it for everyone? And especially, why include it when it's not 100% necessary to make the opiate work? Makes no sense to me. My bottom line, I guess, is that for chronic pain patients who must take the high doses of opiates to survive and be at least a little functional, it's not fair to compromise their liver or kidneys and potentially cause other damages or problems (as if chronic pain isn't enough). Besides being allergic, I refuse to take any meds other than those that I absolutely need. Period. Any other opinions out there?
