Hi Debra,

You posted that one medicine you take costs $14,000 a month. I am curious; does

your insurance cover that? Have they been paying for it for some time? Any

threats of not covering your specific med?

I am asking because my meds cost $3000 a month and my insurance does cover most

of it, but my doctor keeps telling me that many of his patients have had to

change to less expensive meds because insurance companies are refusing to cover

some meds that are used " off label " , like the most expensive one I take which is

FDA approved for cancer pain only. Which I don't have. I'm the chronic daily

headache guy.

Thanks,

I have been on the same drug since 05.  My private insurance had no problems

covering.  I have been on medicare for the last 3 years and the first year

they paid for all of the drug, the second year they would only pay for 1/2 of

it, and I just switched companies and my

co-pay is 2.00

The new drug for cancer pain will only be released by the company directly to

the patient so that it isn't used off label.

Having been a patient with horrible migraines which went away on daily

narcotics. I have been on all of the triptans, maxalt, migranal, dhe,  I do not

take any Tylenol as i believe it causes me headaches.

I just read in the journal of pain medicine that certain controlled pain meds

they are working with the DEA and doctors to have patients using highly abused

drugs to have to be okayed to use these drugs.
