Guest guest
Hi, all. I know we all have access to shows and tv, but we don't all watch the same shows or have time to watch them all. So, I'll pass on some info from today's Dr. Oz show. Today's show was about gluten sensitivity or celiac disease and the symptoms that are often misdiagnosed as other things. What caught my interest was the symptoms mentioned on the show: Migraines Bloating Swelling Pain / Joint Pain Numbness & Tingling Dermatitis Herpetiformis (lesions on the skin) Dr. Oz said that those who are sensitive, even 1/8 of a teaspoon can trigger a reaction. So, if you are allergic or sensitive, you'd have to eliminate all gluten before you could see any results. You cannot just cut down since the trigger amount is so small. He showed how the intestines get deformed and stop absorbing nutrients. It can cause zinc and magnesium deficiencies. Magnesium deficiency symptoms are: The risk of heart disease and diabetes is increased and can also cause heartbeat irregularities, confusion, muscle cramps and kidney stones. Zinc deficiency symptoms are: more cold and flu bouts, longer healing of wounds, a lesser sense of taste and smell, skin problems, loss of appetite and night blindness. Since we have been talking about migraines lately, I thought I'd share the show. The one good thing about Dr. Oz show is that the shows are available to watch online for a week or so. So, if you miss the show you can still watch it on the computer. Jade
Guest guest
Jade, We used to prescribe zinc to our Cancer patients that were treated in their esophagus, neck area and lost their sense of taste. It is supposed to increase the ability to taste and also heal. There must be something to that. Vitamin deficiencies effect our immune system and I remember when I was told I had Vitamin D deficiency and I was given B 12, Vitamin D 3 and Calcium as they all relate to each other. My Doctor said if I felt any numbness of my lips, it is a sign my Vitamin D levels were off and sitting in the sun does not help get it back up as it should be. As patients and the health care workers forget sometimes to test for vitamin deficiencies when we complain of some symptoms. I am glad you brought attention to this as it is important to remember. I am off to take my vitamins. Bennie > Jade wrote : > > He (Dr. Oz) showed how the intestines get deformed and stop absorbing nutrients. It can cause zinc and magnesium deficiencies.
