Guest guest
Yeah, that almost works . The only problem is that you don't know shit about sports riots. You seem far too willing to overlook the little Los Angeles " celebrations " that took place barely two weeks ago. I don't recall a single year that hasn't resulted in a sports riot somewhere in the USA. Not to mention the school riots that took place in towns too small to support a decent riot, those being Tucson, Arizona, and East Lansing, Michigan, that nevertheless had kickass riots. Guest guest
And you totally missed the point. I'm quite capable of seeing the shit in my own back yard especially with other people the news media and papers reminding me of it on a daily basis. And yes my high school had it's share of riots over idiotic shit. I've also lived in two cities that have had the dubious distinction of being the murder capital of the US through the years and subsequently attempted to live up to the distinction. I was at the Disco Sucks Rock & Roll forever riot during the double header at Wrigley Field mostly dodging LP's. So I can speak first hand on the subject of asinine Sports riots. I was pointing out that shit happens everywhere. What I was doing J was the same thing that Pete, Joe and Bjorn did which is ignoring their own back yard to poke fun at our'n. Overlooking some of the shit in my own backyard was exactly what I was going for. Like Bjorn I was going for humor. The muuuhaahaa should have been a dead give away. One more thing. About the only thing saying I didn't know shit about sports riots did was almost get you a shitty response.. Re: Re: EXECUTION, Pete > > Hi Pete > > Very well put. Guest guest
I recommend a poke at Russia for diversion here -- new page at http://www.geocities.com/bouglaf/putinbomb.html --though the bomb and the band are " made in USA " . The USA used to do a VERY classy H-bomb, though the Russians do hold the world record. Britain has the record for dropping accuracy -- within 90 yards of target from 45,000 feet (about). Learn all this and more at Gallery Bouglaf, also featuring ruthlessly destructive thermo-weirdo anti stepNazi humour. Britain has only itself to blame for the US of A! . > >Reply-To: 12-step-freeegroups >To: " 12-Step-Free " <12-step-freeegroups> >Subject: EXECUTION of Pete, Bjorn and Joe >Date: Thu, 29 Jun 2000 23:06:48 -0500 > >Alright guys. Guest guest
Sir, I submit that these men stand convicted of no worse crime than being European (though the Brits might not agree on that one) and that, all men being famously created equal, they are no equally badder than USAs. If sentence is carried out on these men, Europe should place rigid cultural sanctions on US bubble-gum for up to thirty years. Sir, I remain yours more or less legally, D. Guest guest
Hi Joe. You know, even if you were guilty you could probably get a jail house wedding out of the deal. It's not uncommon here. Re: EXECUTION of Pete, Bjorn and Joe It was with great regret that I heard that I am to be executed. Nevertheless I must admit it has a feeling of inevitability about it; I did after all criticise aspects of the US political system, and I do understand that an example must be set for others. All that I ask now is that I get the same romantic options as other death row inhabitants, namely to have some woman to correspond with, to visit me, and to marry me while I am still alive and to declare in tv interviews thereafter that she is " sure I didn't really do it " . That isn't too much to ask for, surely. Oh, and that during my 15-year stay, whenever I go for a walk, someone says " Dead men walking " . I've always thought that was a scream. Obviously they didn't see the Romero movies. Joe B.

Guest guest
I hardly think the LA riots compare with a bit of chair throwing . These events just temporarily raise European violence to a slightly larger fraction of that going on in american cities all the time! Just recently I met a very personable American guy was is apparently, ex Green Beret. So far he has been intimidated by two British drunks in quick succession who appear to have been bored with life. He kept his cool on both occassions, commenting afterward that such behavior in the States would produce a very different outcome. But is this a virtue, or itself merely testimony to the greater violence of American culture? anyway, apparently he is so disgusted with the behavior of us limeys that he is thinking of rejecting a job offer of UK directorship of a software company, which would be a shame. Guest guest
Regrettably, Pete, the Dunblane shootings prove we do live on the same planet (not to mention Hungerford -- a spectacular and early gun-lovin' nihilist's day out -- when was it? Late 1980s?). But yes, UK is a comparatively safe place, thank God, and fewer guns in fewer hands has probably got something to do with it. Guest guest
Hi Joe: Would you mind wearing a Dr Who ensemble? Either the Jon Pertwee getup or the Tom Baker will do. In the case of the Tom Baker just hold the scarf in your hand as it will undoubtedly get in the way. I wouldn't have the heart to go through with it if you did. Then come over here, and I will splash out on exotic pizza (that is, the UK variety). We can discuss what we will wear to our forthcoming execution. I personally favour a white shirt and black trousers- I suppose a sort of 1800s beheading-royalty dress style. If you are really good I may even provide plates... Joe B. You do realise that in my Dr Who form I could dematerialize or be rescued by a teenage girl or something? Of those two, it would have to be Tom Baker. I never really er, identified with Jon Pertwee, although in my opinion he did have the best nymphet accompanying him across the galaxies. And Troughton (the first Dr I think) was both too old and too early but certainly scores on ruggedness. I will sort through my collection of 1960s/70s scarves (mens, long) to find something suitable. I seem to remember wide horizontal stripes, and on a long scarf that is not a good thing, but it may be necessary for correctness. I still think the I outfit would suit me better though. Joe B. Guest guest
If you shoot him as Jon Pertwee, then if you wait a bit he'll turn into Tom Baker! Guest guest
Troughton wasnt the first doctor, he wasa preceded by an alderly gent whose name escapes me. Troughton died at an SF convention where he was guest of honor, which is how my " change into " was coined .... ppl joked that insted of trying to revive him, the Dr Who fans waited for him to turn into Pertwee. Guest guest
Pete The first doctor was Hartnell. He was good, though I think Tom Baker has to be number one Doc. I think the theme tune of " Dr Who " is the most memorable of all TV themes -- would like a very long version of it for " wallpaper " . Best wishes . ps -- Dr Who history at http://www.dwguide.demon.co.uk/origins.htm >From: watts_pete@... >Reply-To: 12-step-freeegroups >To: 12-step-freeegroups >Subject: Re: EXECUTION of Pete, Bjorn and Joe >Date: Mon, 03 Jul 2000 16:43:17 -0000 > > Troughton wasnt the first doctor, he wasa preceded by an >alderly gent whose name escapes me. Oh I think I remember him now, vaguely. He wasn't very memorable, was he. An old man with longish white hair and the look of someone who'd spent a life in libraries muttering softly to himself. No wonder they gravitated through more and more exciting and ever more youthful gents to eventually arrive at the dynamic and thrusting son, by which time I had long lost interest. Once you've seen him as a country vet, you can't easily make him a Time Lord. It's obvious, I would think. Joe B.
