Guest guest
Hi, all. I have been pretty out of it for the first three weeks after my fusion and the earlier attempts I made to send info met with failure - probably due to my benumbed brain. I have finally been able to write down as much as I can remember, in as much detail as I can remember. I wrote it in third person because I'm uncomfortable with relatring it in first person. It's in the file called Reminiscences. My intention is neither to whine nor to brag, but to set down as accurately as possible what this has all been like for one fusion patient out of thousands. Those of you who have been through this will recognize much of what I describe, and for those of you who are facing it I want you to know a little of what you may experience. Recovery is not easy; it's very bumpy. Lots of things happen to you that you could consider signs of something gone wrong or of surgical failure. But if you are aware that many, many other people have felt the same way, it may make it easier to relax and wait for the slow changes. They do happen and things do get better. Good luck to all of you facing any kind of surgical intervention. I'm doing fine now, all things considered, and I will add more as I get to it. I'm starting to look at used bicycles! - in New Mexico
