Guest guest
I can't give medical advice but... If you had high blood pressure would you have a device at home to check it? If you have diabetes do you have testing equipment at home? If you think you might have a fever, do you have a thermometer to check? If you answered those, now I ask: If you have PF should you have an oximeter? If you answered the first three questions " yes " , how could you not answer the last one " yes " as well. > > I just read your last post. Guest guest
Bruce, I have a job for you. Someone mentioned a heated humidifier bottle to me today. My problem. Because I keep my mama ships in the garage and the weather has been cold my humidifier bottle is freezing into ice. The Apria guy said that the 02 coming out is below 0. So, even when it is 40 degrees it is going to freeze up. My nose is bleeding and with all this blood thinner, not a good thing. See if you can find on the net a heated humidifier high flow water bottle. That would be so good. Or maybe someone has an idea or a solution. My nose is begging you. Please do not suggest bringing a mother ship inside. We have taken our daughter and her five children in and we have no room for anything. Bodies are everywhere. Hugs, Joyce D. Guest guest
Put the daughter in the garage....lol Ok, bad idea. I shall search. They have them for CPAP's and such but I haven't seen for oxygen. The other idea is to find a way to heat the area. Some form of safe, spark free heater in the garage, not trying to get it up to 70 degrees, but just warmed up some. Even better if you could somehow wall off the small area where the tanks are and heat or insulate. Now I also have another wild idea. I may test this one. Who says the humidifier has to be at the reservoir itself. What if there was a short tube inside and then somehow the humidifier. I know that could have been done on a concentrator although don't know the risk of water in the line. Not sure how one would attach on the reservoirs. I will see if I can find anything or any ideas. > > > Bruce, > > I have a job for you. Someone mentioned a heated humidifier bottle to > me today. > > My problem. Guest guest
Joyce I don't have any answers yet but sure have questions developing. Going to pursue until at least I get told " no " enough times by supplierss. Seems HudsonRCI has some humidification systems of some sort but perhaps more some connectors that might allow moving the humidifier inside. Also, there are heated humification systems for other applications that might be adaptable. The obvious is CPAP but that may or may not adapt. But there are also oxygen systems for both hospitals and EMS. Also, I have found various humidifiers I haven't previously seen. They type bottles we have are always referred to as disposable. However, there are larger bottles and different bottles that are dishwashable. Also, there are prefilled bottles with sterile solution. Now, the reason both of those are interesting is that I found many reports all indicating a huge percentage of home humidifiers being found with bacteria. So, all I really know about it at this point is that there is so much more out there to learn and I intend to over the next few days. > > > Bruce, > > I have a job for you. Guest guest
Bruce, I thought of the bottle inside. We have the tubing coming through the wall near the floor. But, I can't figure out how to hook the thingy on the top. If my brain would clear I might could think of something. Ever since my hospital stay and all these new meds, I have been in a state of confusion. It is difficult for me to work things out. I'm usually good at that stuff. Keep thinking. Hugs, Joyce D. Guest guest
I'm going to try some different connectors. Its easy enough to put a standard nipple connector on the reservoir and run and tube from it. However, connecting that tube to the humidifier bottle is the more complicated issue. Obviously, coming out of the humidifier isn't a problem. The connectors I've tried don't seal well. Even if they did, I'd have some concern over one more set of connectors and over whether this increased any possibility of moisture in the line. But, it seems there must be some alternatives, if we can only figure them out. > > > > > > > > > Bruce, > > > > > > I have a job for you. Guest guest
Bruce, At one point I bought a humidifier and began reading so much negative stuff about mold, mildew and bacterial growth that I packed the thing up and haven't used it since. The bottles get sanitized about every other day. As soon as it gets warm, this will not be a problem, but I am going to bleed to death before then. Thanks for looking. Hugs, Joyce D. Guest guest
I know nothing more about this device than what I see here. Hudson has a similar one too. http://www.smiths-medical.com/catalog/humidification-systems/active-humidification-systems/aquinox/aquinox-high-flow-humidification.html > > >> > >> > > Bruce,> > >> > > I have a job for you. Guest guest
Bruce, One of my group of pulmonologists that visited me regularly in the hospital and who happened to be female commented on the fact that oxygen equipment was antiquated. She said that there needs to be so many product changes made to make improvements in our quality of life. The scientists in this world can put men on the moon, look into our homes from outerspace, keep people breathing and comfortable in space where there is no oxygen.....etc, etc, etc,....and yet you look around you and see lung and heart patients dragging the same heavy useless old equipment around that has been in exsitance since the dark ages. Grrrrrr. The sicker we get, the heavier and more cumbersome the equipment becomes. Then when a product is actually invented and put on the market....providers do not educate themselves to it's use....shoot, they don't have any knowledge of the stuff that they do have. And, God forbid that they have anything...new stuff or old stuff in stock and readily accessable to the patient. Do diabetics have this much trouble getting thier needs met. ? Uh oh, the grumpies are here this morning. They sneaked in when I wasn't looking. Excuse me while I run them away for the day. Hugs, Joyce D.
